Driver (Dwayne Johnson) has a mission — to kill all those who were responsible for his brother’s death. After spending a decade in prison for a robbery gone bust, Dwayne walks out with tattoos and all —ready to pull the trigger, which he does in style. But his path is riddled with obstruction as a nearly-retired cop (Billy Bob Thornton) and a hired killer (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is baying for his blood. What happens eventually doesn’t come as a massive surprise

When Dwayne Johnson's around, you expect the screen to explode. Specially when you know he is not strutting his comic avatar as in films like Tooth Fairy and The Game Plan. His hard Rock physique and stony face appeal has managed to entertain viewers, both in high-drama wrestle mania bouts and in films like Scorpion King which fully exploit his charisma.

Revenge is a dish best served cold - or in this case served in the company of The Rock (Dwayne Johnson). Driver (Johnson) after leaving prison starts hunting for the people who killed his brother. However, the task is easier said than done. Cop (Thornton) and Killer (Oliver-Jackson Cohen) are those in between Driver and his ambition. The three play a cat-and-mouse game, dodging bullets and chasing cars.

“A dark place” is quite the favourite expression with the characters of Faster. “You were in a dark place,” the prison warden tells the “Driver” (Johnson), shaking his head grimly at the grisly photos of all he suffered inside the jail. “I am in a dark place,” the Cop tells his estranged girlfriend, seeking to be taken back. “We were in a dark place,” one of the Driver’s targets tells him, begging for mercy. Let me get this out of the way, right at the beginning of this review -- Dwayne Johnson has decent screen presence. His comic timing is not too bad either. His choices of movie roles though, are not that hot. There doesn't seem to be any earthly reason why a movie like Faster should have been made. It tells an age-old story, really badly.
