Story
Firaaq is the movie that chases the life of several people. These people are the victims of some silent onlookers, and some assassins who are trapped in the 2002 violence in Gujarat. This story focuses on their story and their tragedy. The story starts with Khan Saheb (Naseeruddin Shah). This is an elderly Muslim classical musician, who is very active with the current situations of the world. Khan Saheb only realizes the destruction of a shrine dedicated to the Sufi saint,of wali Gujarati.
A middle-age Hindu housewife, Aarti (Deepti Naval), is distracted because she did not help a Muslim woman being chased by a mob and considers her sins to find the Mohsin. Mohsin is a Muslim orphan who wanders the city in search for his family. The story has many twists and turns. The movie has many characters that make it worth watching. Hanif, along with several other Muslim men, plan to turn the things against the violence and their helplessness by searching for a gun to exact revenge. Sameer (Sanjay Suri) Shaikh and Anuradha Desai (Tisca Chopra) is a wealthy couple, whose store was burnt during the bloodshed. They decide to move to Delhi to escape the assault and Sameer comes into conflict with his wife's family over expressing his identity as a Muslim in India.
