Hathyar is a 2002 Indian Bollywood action film released on Oct 18, 2002. The film is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, produced by Ganesh Jain.
Hathyar is a narrative story which inquest into the household of Raghunath (played by Sanjay Dutt), a dreaded criminal. His son Rohit (played by Sanjay Dutt) has to face a lot of troubles from the outside world, repeatedly telling him of the stigma attached to his family because of his father's past. Just like his dad, circumstances force Rohit to become a criminal and he gets the name Boxer Bhai. Rohit has flaws, he cannot stand any lady being called a prostitute, because his mother, Sonu was once, had fallen hard for a married lady, Gauri (played by Shilpa Shetty), who is abiding a marriage with a physically abusive husband. Rohit snippets her out of this abusive relationship and again marries her. But Rohit's troubles are far from over.
