Himmat 1970

Himmat is a 1970 Indian Bollywood action film released on Jan 01, 1970. The film is directed by Ravikant Nagaich, produced by P. Mallikaarjun Rao.

The Movie begins with Raghu(Jeetendra) who has just finished his jail term. He had surrendered himself to the police trying to kidnap a child from its mother on his boss's [Prem Chopra] behest,.The child's mother dies, and himself having lost his mother as a child,he is weighed down by guilt.Therefore, he makes an honest confession. However, Inspector Mathur [K.N.Singh] to whom he had surrendered, believes that 'Once a thief, always a thief '. So he constantly keeps vigil on Raghu's activities. Raghu gets a job as a truck driver after jail and falls in love with Malti [Mumtaz] who has escaped from the clutches of Raju,a pimp.He marries her. Malti helps Raghu to lead a normal life respecting him more when she is told of his past life by him and his intention to leave all the bad ways. But Raghu's theiving days boss wants him back, as he was a master con man.So he tries to create obstacles in every attempt that Raghu and Malti make to lead a normal life.He even tries to frame Raghu with a murder, but that doesn't work. Due to Prem Chopra's constant harassment, Raghu is jobless, moneyless and becomes depressed due to the insults being hurled at him in lieu of his criminal past. So Malti tries to get a job to feed their child as a club dancer. On knowing this he feels agitated and goes to meet Inspector Mathur and convinces him of his sincerity. He agrees to be an informer of Boss's activites. When he goes back to Boss, Boss hears him talking to the Inspector and distrusts him and changes his plan from looting RBI to stealing the Indian military's secret file from a running train.He forces Raghu to carry out the theft. Raghu manages to steal and handover the same to Inspector with Malti's help. Boss kidnaps Raghu's child to get that file. While trying to get back his child, Boss shoots Raghu and he is injured. Inspector Mathur arrives there and saves his life. He states his respect towards Raghu that he was wrong and that if a person is really keen on becoming a good and honest person he can achieve it. Raghu is rewarded for his good intentions.

The thief, dacoit, and murdered Raghu is released from Jail-a complet- ely transformed man. He takes a vow to live honestly and never to abandon the path or Truth again. . But Police Inspector who firmly belives that "Once a bad is always bad!" scoffs at Raghus resolve. . And the Boss, the leader of the gangsters who is very much in need of Raghu, tries everthing in his fold. . Rafhu is once again thrown in the conflict of conscience. The forces of Law and Order on the one hand, and Boss on the other, never, give him a moment of peace. Even his wife Malti and child is not spared. He is thrown out from every factory office and Bank and thus the whole family is in the grip of starvation. Malti becomes a dancer in a club to save the situation. But Raghu mislead by Boss, misunderstands her. Now materialy broke, morally a wreck Raghu decides to join the Boss. Raghus arrival sparks a wave of happiness in the den.
