Story

Jato Mat Tato Path is a 1979 Indian Bengali biographical, devotional film released on 1979. The film is directed by Guru Bagchi, produced by Sisir Mitra.

Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa alias Godai was the priest of the Kali temple at Rani Rashmani's residence. The newly appointed Ramakrishna appeared a little idiosyncratic to everyone. But Rani Rashmani, the visionary zamindar could see his inner powers and divine talents. She convinced her rationalist son Mathur of Ramakrishna's divine powers. Ramakrishna meanwhile transformed every suspicious individual around him into devotees of the goddess Kali. With his simple & magnetic attitude Ramakrishna attracted people of every caste, class, creed & religion towards himself. He convinced them of his faith and soon Ramakrishna became a famous saint - his message of love, sacrifice & simplicity inspired many. Soon Rramakrishna's original mentor, Rani Rashmani passed away. Ramakrishna was shattered. But her son Mathur quite efficiently picked up his mother's baton. He patronized & respected Ramakrishna. Ramakrishna's mother came to Kolkata to reside with her son. She pressurised her son to marry Sharada who was the appropriate bride for Ramakrishna. The protagonist left Sharada at his home & arrived in Kolkata to carry on his search for the eternal truth. In his search for "maa" Ramakrishna practises sincerely. He promoted secularism. He practised tantra yoga, went to the mosque & even took lessons of the Bible from the eminent scholar Sambhu Mullick. He reached self-realization. He preached that Ram, Rahim and Robin are all same. He preached the value & essence of unity, love & secularism. People flocked to him like swarms of bees. He showed the least interest in money & fame. He got more & more engaged into spirituality & aspired to attain moksha. Finally his wife Sharada arrived in Kolkata. He worshipped Sharada as a goddess. Sharada too realized her husband's faith & devoted herself to Ramakrishna's search of the supramental consciousness.
