Jeeva is a 1986 Indian Bollywood action film released on Dec 05, 1986. The film is directed by Raj N. Sippy, produced by Romu N. Sippy.
Thakur Ganga Prasad (Dr. Shreeram Lagoo) considers it his duty to help the needy while Lala Lalchand (Pran) and his son Rajesh (Gulshan Grover) believe in exploiting those who are helpless and oppressed. This was the reason why Thakur and Lala were always at loggerheads with each other. . They lived in a village there Daku Jagir Singh (Amjad Khan) was virtually a law unto himself. One day when the police were hot on his trail, the Thakurs wife (Vidya Sinha) came to his help and Jagir Singh could evade being arrested. . Indeed it was an uncanny coincidence that while the dacoit found shelter in the Thakurs house, his son Jeevan (Sanjay Dutt) was undergoing training in the city to become a police officer. S.P. Dushyant Singhs (Anupam Kher) daughter Nalini (Mandakini) was hopelessly in love with Jeevan. Dushyant Singh, was pleased that his prospective son-in-law would eventually be a custodian of law and order like him. . Meanwhile an overwhelmed and greatful Jagir Singh leaves the Thakurs house after solemly promising that he would be only too happy to reciprocate Thakurs generous gesture. This is overheared by Gopal (Sachin). Though Gopal was a servant in the Thakur household every one treated him like a son. His widowed sister Tulsi (Beena) too was respected by everyone in the village. . One day Rajesh rapes Tulsi and this leads to Tulsi commiting suicide. A word from Thakur to police was enough to send Rajesh to the gallows. Lata threatened Thakur with dire consequences if he gave evidence against his son. . Diwali was the round corner. Jeevan came back to the village to celebrate his festival with his parents. But instead of seeing lights twinkling from his doorstep he found the whole house in flames. Jeevan can do no more than retrive the dead bodies of his parents from the flames. Villagers were unanimous in naming the Lala as the person responsible for this dastardly act. . Jeevan went to the police inspector to file a complaint against Lala. But the corrupt policeman was anything but helpful. The orphan Jeevan turned furious and in the ensuing struggle a bullet went off and killed the Inspector. The court declared Jeevan to be guilty of murder and sentenced him to death. . Gopal, all of a sudden recalled the promise made by Jagir Singh. He went to Jagir Singh for help. Jagir Singh was true to his world and freed Jeevan from prison. The law had offered death to Jeevan and the lawbreaker had led him back to life. Jeevan joined the gang of his benefactor and instead of becoming a police officer who would protect the people from the dacoits, he became a dacoit himself.
