Jhanjar 1953

Jhanjar is a 1953 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1953. The film is directed by Kidar Sharma.
The story opens in the home of an Indian family in an unspecified Far Eastern island. This family consists of four members: Tej, his clownish younger brother Ruldu and their two respective daughters Rupa and Seeti. Tej seems to be in the transportation business in which his brother helps him. Rupa and Seeti are school going girls who are radically different from each other in character and temperament. Though both are sweet, Rupa is normal and sober person while Seeti is mischievous and eccentric. . Things move smoothly for a long while in this family till Seeti comes across a frustrated young man Paras trying to commit suicide by hanging wit a rope. The rope gives way and Seeti rushes to find him a stronger one. Impressed by the girls impishness Paras changes his mind pretty quickly and tells Seeti that he was forced to think of suicide because he had no job and was too poor even to buy medicine for his ailing mother. Seeti is resourceful. She thinks of a plan and asks Paras to come her house tolerably dressed so that she could introduces him as the new rent collector. She promises him a full meal and permits him to use the rent money for treating his mother and return it later after getting a job. . Next day Paras, who had rushed to commit suicide because he had nothing, comes riding on a cycle and the plan is carried through. Though Ruldu sees through the plan, he winks at it due to his inherent good nature and ingulgenece for his daughter. Paras soon meets Rupa and just falls in love with her. Rupa also finds him interesting. After a slow and painful preamble the eternal triangle is at last established. . A confession by Paras soon wins the approval of Tej and Tej starts thinking seriously of Rupas marriage. Seeing that Seeti also loves Paras, her father Ruldu also entertains the idea of giving her to Paras. Paras, who has not yet a job has already two girls ready to marry him. It seems as if the two fathers were only waiting for a good pedigree pup to come along. . By this time, Yama, the local reigning Chinaman with an evil eye for girls, meets Rupa and gets fascinated. He soon begins to run his eyes over Rupas curves and conveys his intentions to Tej in as many words but Tej, wh looks like a lorry driver from the hills, misses Yamas subtle hints and prepares for Rupas marriage with Paras. After the usual hit-and-miss misunderstandings, Seeti and Ruldu realize that Rupa was to be engaged to Paras. Both father and daughter celebrate the shock with the usual tears and soon look like the innocent goats of Bandra slaughter house. Yama, however, has different plans. He frames up Paras on a false charge of outraging a woman - Yamas own bedroom heater - and kidnaps Rupa. . Jealousy makes the bedroom heater spit out flames and very soon everyone begins to chase Yama running away with Rupa. But because the law allows even a screen hero only one woman, the other one has to be killed. So Seeti overtakes Yama, rescues Rupa and in the subsequent fight with Yama goes rolling with the villain down a deep ravine. That keeps behind a boy and a girl withou a villain and other girl.
