Some find work as a lightning; for others it is a curse. What makes labour worth performing according to William Morris, is the nature of hope in it; "hope of rest, hope of product, hope of pleasure in the work itself-rest enough and good enough to be worth having; product of work having by one who is neither a fool or an ascetic; pleasure enough for all; for others to be conscious of it whle we are at work. . The whole creation of God be the plants, insects; birds or animals, streams or rivers, seas or oveans, they all perform their duty and survive with work and still want to have all the material comforts of life. One such character is Gudoo who unlike his conscientious and hardworking elder brother thinks work as a curse and wants to become rich and affluent by false and easy means. This is why he is called Kaamchor. . Mr. Sanghvi is a big industrialist and a fabulously rich man. He has only two daughters. One is married Suresh who lives with Mr. Sanghvi and has an eye on the entire wealth of his father-in-law. Mr. Sanghvis younger daughter Geeta has entirely different thinking and worships different values of life. She does not want to build her future on the affluency of her father. Her dream is to get married to a man who should appreciate the dignity of work and should not have any greed for the wealth of her father. Gudoo comes to know about the high ideals of Geeta and acts superbly to convince her that he is the right young man of her dreams. Geeta falls in love with Gudoo and with approval of Mr. Sanghvi they are married. Gudoo feels he was fulfilled his long cherished desire to become rich overnight and without work; but gets the shock of his life when Geeta sternly tells him that she would never stay with her father and that she would like to be with her husband however poor he may be. From this point of conflict the story develops into an extremely piognant and dramatic situation which ultimately results separation. . How kaamchor is reformed and how he realises the value of dignity of work and how he repents for his earlier follies and convictions and how the separated couple is reunited is the heart-rendering combination of KAAMCHOR.
