The story starts with Sonia Saxena (played by Amisha Patel). She is the only daughter of a very rich man (played by Anupam Kher). One day she meets with Rohit (played by Hrithik Roshan). Rohit is a very ambitious person and he wants to fulfill his dreams. So, he earns his part-time living by singing. Now after this, he gets a singing contract from Sonia’s friend who is also a wealthy man. He is called for singing in cruise. Then after this, he slowly and steadily falls in love with Sonia and then both get trapped into an island. After getting back to their place, Rohit asks for Sonia’s hand to her father. But, her father’s decision is something else. On the other side, Rohit starts earning for seeking Sonia’s hand. But, on the day of his concert, he is killed and then Sonia is heart-broken. Then, Sonia is sent to Switzerland for a change and there she meets with Rohit’s look alike known as Raj. He is her cousin’s friend. Then after this, Raj also falls for Sonia and he travels with Sonia back to India. There the rivals also try to kill him, but in the end Sonia comes to know that her father was the main culprit who killed Rohit. Later, Raj and Sonia are united.
