Kalankini 1945

Kalankini is a 1945 Indian Bengali drama,family film released on Oct 12, 1945. The film is directed by Jyotish Bandyopadhyay.

Inspite of being a first class first in M.A. Binoy was still then jobless. He was researching about Radha-Krishna love. Bina was a school Head Mistress. Apart from that she earned through some tutions and she lived quite happily by this income with her husband Binoy. As because Binoy had to survive on wife's income, minor problems in their conjugal life started creating cracks between them. During the last famine Bina arranged a drama show by the student and the teachers. The money raised to be given to the relief fund. But the founder and the president of the school Mr. Chowdhury did not like the idea of that charity for the poor poeple. But School secretary Mr. Sen thought differnetly, he approved and appreciated Bina's attempt. Bimal thought that the relationship of Bina with both Mr. Chowdhury and Mr.Sen were not totally clean. So he warned Bina not to be hysteric about the draram-show. Bina became annoyed at Binoy's wrongful doubts and she felt compassion for his unemployed husband. Inspite of Binoy's warning when Bina went to act on stage, Binoy could not resist himself and he became traceless. Bina became stunned when she did not find Binoy after retuning from the show. Binoy went after returning from the show. Binoy went straight to Bombay. He kept his identity secret and took a job of a house servant in rich businessman Mr.Sarkar's house. At this time he sent a copy of a novel written by him filled "Kalankini" to a magazine's office. The magazine started publishing Binoy's novel regularly Mr. Chowdhury after reading that novel deputed a private investigator to find him. Hootash Halder, the private detective, had a doubt that the writer of "Kalankini" might be Binoy. So one day Mr. Chowdhury, Bina and detective Halder started for Bombay after taking the address of the writer from the magazine's office. Every confusion was cleared after they met.
