Story
The film Lakshmi is based on the true events of a poor girl Lakshmi and her story of hope, courage and victory. The story is based on heroism and an untold courage of Lakshmi.
In a small village lives a poor lifestyle girl Lakshmi aged 13 years with her husband, Kishtaya. He is a deaf-mute man. Lakshmi and Kishtaya worked for their wealthy landlord. One terrible day comes when Lakshmi gets kidnapped and is sold for prostitution.
Lakshmi gets raped while she was thrown is this horrific and inhumane world of heartless people. She also gets brutally beaten. But as her will to never give in and with the help of other girls, Lakshmi barely survives. In a police raid, she gets rescued. It’s the time when Lakshmi shows courage against every difficulty where everybody else fails due to fear. Besides all the pressure, coercion and bribes, she stands up courageously in the court leading to a landmark case in India. Lakshmi succeeds in putting the traffickers behind bars.
