Light House is a 1958 Indian Bollywood social, suspense film released on Jan 01, 1958. The film is directed by G. P. Sippy.
In the pinnacle of a lonely lightouse on the picuresque Western coast resides a pretty village damsel, Bali, alone and shunned by all the village folks, a prisoner in her own dwelling. She dare not set foot with in their midst, nor court their society lest she be stoned and belaboured by the fury of the villagers. Her only crime is th peoples ignorance, Her only company is her aged father and village kid called Pakoo who befriends her. . In this atmosphere charged with native superstitions, enters a charming young man, Ashok from the city of Bombay. He is accompanied by a vivacious young lady Neela. Ashok is a fugitive from the law, charged with a crime he did not commit. In a weak moment under the persuasion and influence of Neela, he decides to run away and hide rather thean face the c;nsequences of a certain trail. Neela is prepared to follow him to the end of the world, for she is determined to get him at any cost. . Ashok and Neela find rooms at an hotel on the coast run by one Mr. Narielwala, an old admirer of Neela. He is a chracter so queer and original but with sucha zest for living that merely seeing him in action is to be immensely amused! He begms afresh his attentins to Neela. . The tall swaying palms, with their shady fronds, the long sivery beach dotted here and there with drying nets, the placid country atmosphere all these fail to comfort the troubled mind of Ashok until he sets his eyes on the unfortunate young resident of the lightouse whose sad song beging to haunt him. Their first meeting is as tragic as the love that soon develops between Ashok and Bali, Little by little Ashok learns the story of Balis life. The reason who the whole villag hates her is that she is condidered accursed. Merely to look upon her is to invite a curse upon oneself! This is because through a series of unfortunate conincidences many people who had been close to her have died through strange accidents. That is who people avoid her like plague! . To Ashok, this is height of superstiotion! He sets out to conquer Balis fears. He teaches her to be bold, to dare to face people and their dark accusing eyes he teaches her to be a normal human being once again asnd in all her pitufl efforts their mutual love is Balis real strength. . Mr. Nanelwala has only one passior and that is Neela. Neela has only one obsession and that is Ashok. As Ashok gradually drifts out of her reach, Neela flares up and for the first time begins to show her true colours. There is no fury like a woman scorned The drama of our story heightens situations pile on itriguing situations taking our screen play to a surprising climax which will only be revealed on the screen.
