Lukochuri 1958

Lukochuri is a 1958 Indian Bengali comedy,family film released on 1958. The film is directed by Kamal Majumdar.

Kumar leaves home for a job in Bombay. His father forbids him to meet his twin brother Shankar who wants to give music to films and is in love with an artist. However, Kumar goes to Bombay an stays with his brother. In the office, he meets Reeta with whom his friendship soon develops into love. Unknown Reeta's sister, Geeta is the artist Shankar loves. The girl’s mother discovers Geeta with Shankar and forbids such atrocious conduct. She pesters her husband constantly to look for suitable bridgerooms. Shankar gets a break in a film as a music director but is soon driven up the wall by the illogical demands of the producer and the director who wants all types of music combined into one song. A disillusioned Shankar and ? singing the nonsensical lyrics to a beautiful tune. Shankar, now busy with work, misses a date with Geeta for a movie. Kkumar finds the ticket and goes for the film. Geeta mistakes him to be Shankar. Kumar thinks her to be a pickpocket, insults her and leaves Geeta, heart broken at the betrayal, goes home to find Shankar’s actually ? Kumar’s photo with Reeta. She hides her pain and tears. Meanwhile, the girl's father writes to Kumar’s father, his childhood friend, asking his son’s hand for his daughter. Kumar is called back to Calcutta. He refuses to marry. When his protests fall to deaf ears, he pretends to be gravely ill and asks to see Shankar, who comes. Shankar sees the bride’s reveal ?anything to his brother but promises his father that he would get Kumar to be present for the marriage. Geeta seeing Kumar’s photo and thinking it to be Shankar’s makes a similar promise to her mother. On the day of the marriage, a great confusion ensues as a result of the identity of the twins. In the end, however, all problems are resolved as both the sisters get married to both the brothers.
