Maharaja 1970

Maharaja is a 1970 Indian Bollywood costume film released on 1970. The film is directed by Naresh Saigal, produced by Naresh Saigal under banner named N. S. Films.

This film revolves around the tramp called Mohan who has become an outlaw to earn a living for his family and all his disstressed associates . He is the Robin Hood for the entire committee and commits burglary to feed then all. One day he plans to rob an opulent lady. But he eventually ends up by rescuing her from another goon, and the girls falls for him. The girl Kamala ignorant about his true identity, takes him to be a man of honour . He grows in enmity with the local mafia, Raja Sethi who sets his man against him. The goons in pursuit mohan alias mahraja hurts a little boy of mohan's colony severly and the elder's brother refuses to recieve any help from mohan to treat his little brother as the money which he would give him is earned in an evil way. Rather he takes the loan from the local creditors Lala who demands to marry his sister against the financial suppor provided to him compels him to give consent to it, by screwing things up. But Mohan cancels the marriage and finds a well suited groom for the bride instead . Shamu finds how is opinions are bypassed and in sheer anger tries to malign mohan's image before everyone. He soon understands his mistakes and thanks mohan to perform his duty like a true brother which he himself failed doing. Kamala's guardians start negotiation with Mohan for her marriage, but inspite of their repeated inquiry, Mohan does not tell him about his father. Kamala's father is going to reject him thinking him to belong to lower birth. But on Kamala's insistence they started rethinking about Mohan. But he refuses to give any further contact to her. Raja Seth plans to get mohan arrested and the plan is successfully executed with the help of Mohan's sidekick sacrifices his life to help to flee away and escaps him from the spots only to get identified by kamala while looking for the safe refuge from the police. He falls in the eyes of Mohan is a hulligan and being hunted down by the police and blames him to cheat on her but when Mohan tells her how the circumtances compelled him to become an outlaw, her heart melts in sympathy and she stands by him. The goons abduct Mohan's mother and Mohan kill Raja Sethi in an attempt to rescue her. He gets arrested and Kamala comes to visit his mother. The drama reaches its highest peak when Kamala comes to know that her uncle is the father of Mohan and recruits Mohan's parents. Mohan's lawyer father tries hand for his release but fails in his endeavor and Mohan is sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. The story asserts that nobody is born a leader, man creates his own identity by his deeds.

Maharaja was not his real name. He was Mohan in real life...a tramp with a heart of gold who lived with his blind mother and did not even know who his father was. His friends called him Maharaja because of his generousity towards them. But how could a poor tramp be generous towards others? Simple he used other peoples money. He robbed the rich to feed the poor. He was a pick-pocket....He was an out-law who waged a one-man war against poverty, the greatest crime on earth. . He was happy till he met kamala, who fell in love with him without knowing his true identity. . Kamla was the only daughter of a famous lawyer. She was born to riches She only needed Maharajas love to make her life complete. But Mahara- ja avoided her, since he did not want to break her heart by revealing his true identity. . Maharaja, however, could not deceive Kamala of Law for long. He was arrested one day for the murder of a local big-wig. He pleaded guilty to the crime, but insisted that he committed the crime the crime to save his blind mothers honour. .
