Our fascination for shaadis, band-baaja-baaraats, dulha-dulhans and swayamvars is for all to see. In Bollywood, most stories either begin with a shaadi or end with a shaadi. The audience claps the maximum when the hero wins his bride in the climax, overcoming all obstacles and hurdles thrown on his way by opponents. Like a veteran film-maker once told me, "Marriages [in Hindi films] can never go out of fashion." I completely agree!Read full review4.0

On the whole, MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN is a delectably wholesome, heartening, feel-good entertainer. Not just a comedy, but also a tender, bittersweet saga, this rom-com is sure to melt your heart, then restore it anew all over again. Yet another winner from Yash Raj!Read full review4.0

‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ touches the right chord and doesn’t overkill the fun. The screenplay and narrative is tight and crispy and some great performances by Imran, Katrina and Ali are the USP of the film.Read full review3.0

Seriously, triple cute sundae, anyone? Ever noticed the similarity between Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar? All three look younger than they are and bear an incredibly fresh, genuine and genteel disposition. They're easy on the eyes and pleasant enough to make the most banal look bearable. First-time filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar avails of these qualities to fashion a feel-good, melodrama-free, candy floss rom-com about two brothers and a mutual love interestRead full review2.5

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a pretty ordinary effort. It’s the kind of movie where everyone looks catalogue cool and beams with enthusiasm to make the going-ons appear droll and exciting. And though one’s a sourpuss for not buying it, I’ll take the risk of being one.Read full review2.0

MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN oscillates between mundane to sad after showing an initial spark of brilliance. So much time wasted in the 'I love you' nonsense that in the last scene, you feel sorry for the dads of the boy and girl. Continuous references to old YRF films too don't add value. In fact, it is like making mockery out of an already juvenile scene. There's not much on offer in this film. Whatever is there is finished off in the first half hour. After that it dragsRead full review2.0

It's more than obvious with a self-explanatory title like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan that the story of the film would be about a guy falling for his brother's bride-to-be. Predictability seeps in this Yash Raj romantic comedy from the title itself! When Imran Khan does a takeoff on the three ruling Khans of Bollywood in the opening credits, you somehow sense that the film has defined its domain. And it isn't long before you realize that the narrativeRead full review2.0

This is a Yashraj rom com where funny-smart lines are a substitute for good old passion. Don’t go looking for any. Don’t go looking for any subtle notes, either. There aren’t any.Read full review2.0

The movie is so stretched from both ends, you could see it tearing apart from the centre. The couple’s clueless fathers look on like notable ‘sideys’ in suits. All good things come to an end. Thankfully, that’s true for things not so good as well.Read full review1.0

The only saving grace of MBKD is Ali Zafar, who plays the ‘Brother’ in the film. The Pakistani actor is amazingly natural on-camera, confident and talented in equal measure, and brings some charm to an otherwise listless film.Read full reviewNR
