Freshly cooked, piping hot food is savoured instantly. Similarly, a film that radiates freshness catches your eye instantaneously. Conversely, if a film takes a really long time to hit the screens, it generally doesn't find a place in your things-to-do-this-weekend list, unless the word of mouth is electrifying. MILENGE MILENGE suffers for this reason. Even the man on the street knows that it's a dated product!

Long, long ago when Shahid Kapoor hadn't beefed up his Kaminey body and Kareena Kapoor was oblivious to size zero, producer Boney Kapoor and director Satish Kaushik discovered the DVD of John Cusack-Kate Beckinsale-starrer Serendipity. And they said to each other, 'Chal, Bebo-Shasha ko leke picture banate hain.' Only, unfortunately for the two not new to this stuck-in-the-can syndrome

The lead pair of the film is isolated for years and all of sudden wants to find each other frantically without having any contact details of their partner. Had there been a similar scenario in the current context they could have effortlessly traced each other to their doorsteps through social networking websites. In that sense, this film delayed by almost half a decade, appears unbelievable in today’s times.

The only reason to see this one is to verify if this couple is That Bollywood Couple, the one that was splashed on all available media platforms as the love of the century. Now, it’s so far in our TV-cluttered past that we’ve forgotten the key points . Was it Kareena who turned vegetarian because Shahid was one, or was it the other way round?

To be fair, 'Milenge Milenge' delivers exactly what you expect from it. Five years in the making and ultimately assembled out of incomplete footage, this Satish Kaushik-directed romantic drama is regressive, senseless, and packed with plot-holes the size of craters. Priya (played by Kareena Kapoor) thinks she's met the man of her dreams when she runs into the too-good-to-be-true Immy (played by Shahid Kapoor) at a college youth festival in Bangkok.

A person who’d never sinned in his life approached Naarad Muni. The fellow wished to sin for once. Naarad offered him three rooms: first had a woman he could rape; second had a man he could murder; third had a bottle of booze he could down. The man chose alcohol as mildest of the three sins. He drank himself silly. But then entered the other two rooms: raped the woman, and murdered the man!

Yoicks. Which underground vault did they dig this one up from? Milenge Milenge is like a historical relic, with a rounder Kareena Kapoor in pre size zero days, a younger Shahid looking gauche and awkward, in a ridiculous plot as old as the director. After the fabulous Jab We Met, this is clearly jab they parted. Milenge Milenge is all about finding true love through taqdeer, told in a style that looks dated and cheesy today.

Watching Milenge Milenge is like revisiting an era when calling your son 'beta ji', pulling pranks in the college canteen, or dressing up as a girl to visit their hostel was considered 'cool'. A desi adaptation of the John Cusack-Kate Beckinsale classic Serendipity, the film follows Immie (Shahid) and Priya (Kareena) as they leave their future to fate. Whether it's letting a Rs 50 note decide their destiny or banking on an elevator

Milenge Milenge was better left in cold storage. That way we could have been saved of annihilating any good memories we had of Kareena and Shahid together. It is strange that the two actors even signed on a film like this even though it was years ago. May be it was the then love between them that made them wanna stick together in Real and Reel Life or may be they hadn't tasted the success of their blockbuster
