The first question that popped into my head after watching Mr Peabody and Sherman was simply this — why isn’t anyone talking about this movie?…The film is directed by Rob Minkoff, the director of The Lion King and Stuart Little, and it shows. There’s a lot of heart in the film and more effort put to infuse soul into it than on animation (although it’s still a visually dazzling film). The sense of childlike wonder found in Minkoff’s earlier films is omnipresent here, as is the thirst for adventure and the themes of parenthood. And because of the film’s time travel plot device, the filmmakers get to let their collective imagination run wild.

If you can manage to hear much, or even think much, beyond the constant stream of awwwws elicited by Mr. Peabody (Ty Burrell) and his little oscillating tail, you’ll see that this tale is meant to improve your child’s mind by being informative and thoughtful and fun. It is all of these things and more. And, there is the tail.

If you follow The Big Bang Theory, you’ll identify Mr Peabody with Sheldon Cooper…With its unconventional ‘dog adopting a boy’ story, sweet humour and cutesy characters, the film is likeable and manages to make you smile throughout. While it begins beautifully and has its unique novel moments, the second half is moderately funny and succumbs to predictability.

There are a lot of jokes and fun lines and some of them come from the most unexpected quarter at an unexpected time…The quality animation, the colors and little bit of slapstick humor will keep the kids entertained and they might even learn a thing or two about history. Mr.Peabody and Sherman is as good an outing for the family, as it gets.

A new take on the evergreen man and dog relationship. A memorable watch.

The film takes off on a promising premise, but eventually saddles on a disappointing plateau. But nevertheless, it is an uncomplicated film that would appeal to kids and adults alike. The film would strongly appeal to intelligent kids, their parents and dog lovers, who have a sense of humour.

Mr Peabody & Sherman is a delightful animated film of a talking dog/man Mr Peabody who is the smartest thing in the world and his dog/son Sherman, making the film eventually a sumptuous romp through history taking pot-shots at historical figures with utter disdain.

Custom made for kids, this film has a few heart warming moments for grown ups too. Kids should love this one with its simple message and some colorful animation.

The movie is fun, thrilling, smartly-funny and delivers history and life lessons in a busy, colourful, action-packed package. Rob Minkoff, who directed Lion King, has made a cool film. Using Mel Brooks, whose History of the World, Part I was such fun, as the voice of Sigmund Freud is slyly referential — “What fool put a carpet on the wall?”
