Mujrim 1958

Mujrim is a 1958 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1958. The film is directed by O. P. Rathan, produced by F. C. Mehra under banner named Eagle Films.

Shankar (Shammi Kapoor) is a thief wanted by the police. One day he robs a house & to hide from the police he unknowingly enters a drama theatre. He hides in the green room of a dancer named Uma (Ragini). When he hears a conversation between Uma and her theatre owner, he learns that a dramatist was supposed to come. Shankar assumes the false identity of Anand, the dramatist. He introduces himself as Anand. Shankar is surprised when he discovers that the theatre owner also recognizes him as Anand. He comes to to know that the real Anand has actually fallen sick and so he could not make it to the theatre. Shankar goes to see the bed bound Anand & he gets the shock of his life as Anand looks exactly like him. Shankar decides to take advantage of the situation. He even tries to kill Anand so that he can get his identity & restart living his life as a good human. But his heart does not allow him to do so. He instead calls a doctor to see Anand & tells him that he is a thief and also shows him the jewellary which he had stolen as evidence. Shankar falls in love with Uma. Uma also develops a liking for him. The only problem here is that Uma totally hates thieves and bad people. Shankar knows that ultimately Uma will come to know that he is not the real Anand. Does Shankar confess about his real identity and inform Uma? What happens when the real Anand makes an entry?

Just as the Moon, even shrouded by dark clouds, retain the characteristics and qualities of a moon, so is a man indulging although in manifold evils still cannot destroy his conscience and the goodness in it. . Shanker was looked upon by the law as an evil genius. . Once in the darkness of the night, when he was being shadowed by the Police, he enters a Theatrical Company to save himself. That night in the Theatre the people were waiting for the arrival of famous writer "Anand". Amongst these anxious waitors was the famous artist of theatre " Uma". . Shanker while confronted by them impersonates himself as Anand and thus saves himself from the clutches of Police. Shankar saves himself from the Police but could not escape being attracted by Uma. After spending the night in the Theatre he comes away but leaves his heart and soul there. He resolves he would get Uma one day. One day it comes to be announced that noted burglar "Shankar"has died. Shankar however had not actually died but disguised as " Anand" was having hey day in the Theatre. His romance with "Uma" was progressing fast. . But how long;one day the Police come to know of his game and Shanker is arrested on the charge of murder of writer"Anand". From now on in the eyes of law he is a "MUJRIM"( a criminal ). .
