Mukta is a 1994 Indian Marathi drama film released on 1994. The film is directed by Jabbar Patel.
Aburao (played by Laxmikant Berde), the well known as Songadya, a clown in the universe of tamasha - a form of group theatre is known for his sarcastic caustic humor. His humor is verifable to the humiliation he has suffered as an illegitimate child of a tamasha artiste and expands to the cruel world of deceit, deficit and power play. He leaves the tamasha world encash opportunity to enter in world of bollywood, by the beautiful actress Menaka (played by Varsha Usgaonkar) who attracts him as a ‘Songadya’. In the process he misleads his beloved Subhadra, who is pregnant by him. Aburao’s school friend, Gunwant (played by Mohan Agashe), has now become Chief Minister. Gunwant with his political cleverness realizes that he can use the popularity of his actor-clown buddy Aburao to his advantage. Initially not able to Aburao soon finds himself a willing aide in the power game until he is confronted by his mentor who reminds him of his roots and the dawning of his rise to stardom. His confrontation with his girl Jai from Subhadra and his failure to make her smile when the whole world is happy with his humor finally leads him to pursue more earthy simple and gone desires like happiness: both of theirs. The movie has a very high values and morals to show the students. The picture diminishes a very high state of authority for the people and the students.
