Story


Nau Do Gyarah is a 1957 Indian Bollywood thriller, social film released on Jan 01, 1957. The film is directed by Vijay Anand, produced by Dev Anand under banner named Navketan.

Wealthy bride Raksha seeks refuge in the back of the truck of traveller Madan Gopal who is heading towards his uncle Manoharlal's house. When they reach their destination the couple find that Manoharlal has pased away mysteriously and his estate and wealth have been abducted by his currupt son Kuldeep and his mother. Madan smells a foul ploy in this and starts investigations on this matter. He searches for the will which his uncle had made exclusively for him. He realises that the will has been removed. He gets into the house as the estate manager and shows Raksha as his wife. The couple slowly start becoming fond of each other. Raksha becomes an able ally to Madan. Madan learns from the old servants that his uncle has been brutally murdered by Kuldeep and his mother. Kuldeep's girl friend nita has come from Mumbai with the mission of confiscating Kuldeep's property. Her mentor is Surjeet, the man with whom Raksha was scheduled to tie the knot. Nita arrives and starts her tricks. When Surjeet comes in he is shocked to see an unmarried Raksha. Both Kuldeep and Surjeet reveal Madan's real identity. Madan tries to drag him to prison but Surjeet calls Raksha's father and entraps him by getting him arrested on the charge of kidnapping Raksha. Madan seeks the help of his friend and escapes. Kuldeep's mother dies of shock. Nita the vamp gets legal punishment. Madan gets the property and he and Raksha marry and live happily everafter.


Raksha (Kartik) runs away from an arranged marriage to Surjit and meet Madan (Anand) on the road. Madan is on his way to collect an inheritance but he finds that his foster-aunt and cousing Kuldeep (Jeevan) have stolen it. In order to locate the original will, Madan and Raksha disguise themselves and pretend to be married. Songs included Hum hain rahi pyar ke (sung by Kishore Kumar) and Ankin mein kya ji (sung by Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar). Like Chori Chori (1956), this film seems to have borrowed plot elements from Capras It Happened One Night (1934). *.* They met on the roadside and fell in love. . Raksha was running away from her marriage and Madan was going to Bombay in a truck to inherit from his uncle, a fortune of eleven lakhs . His uncle had a property of nine lakhs and a bank balance of away his fortune to his wifes nephew. Kuldeep, but later changed his mind and made his will in favour of his own nephew. He called Madan from Delhi. . Kuldeeps mother was a very shrewd woman, silent, and suspicious. Before Madan could arrive, his uncle was dead and Kuldeep had become the heir to his fortune. . Madan and Raksha took up a job in that household as a married couple, and started a great search for the second will. Kuldeep was in love with Nita, and she was in love with his recently inherited money. Nita was a dancer in Surjits hotel, and Surit was a fortune away. Nita and Surjit were both suspicious of the way Kuldeep had suddenly become a rich man. They came to Kuldeeps house to do some detective work. . All the old servants of the house had been turned out one by one. But there was an old gardener, Kalicharan who was mad and remembered nothing of his past. Only a few faint memories of his old master haunt ed him, and he did nothing except digging the earth day and night. . This was the only man that could help Madan, if only he could talk and talk sense. . Meanwhile Surijit was not idle, His mind was working why is Raksha a r ich mans daughter working here as a servant? Why is she pretending to be Madans wife? Madan could not be ab ordinar man! There is definitel something suspicious about his movements. For a handsome sum of money he decided to sell the information he had refarding Raksha to Kuldeep mother. The old woman become morealert than she was. She started suspecting that Madan was the old mans nephew. . When Madan felt that the cat was out of the bag and it was useless hiding anymore, he openly confessed his identity and burst upon Kuldip and his mother like a storm, assuding them of his uncles murder. But meanwhile, Surjit had informed Rakshas father about Rakshas whereabouts and had called him with the police to get Madan arrested for having eloped with his daughter. Madan was arrested. . It was left for Raksha to fine the will. She quarreled with her father and started a frantic search. When at last she found it, she was kidnapped by Surjit. . Madan was bailed out by a friend.
