Story
Arindam Mukherjee, a top ranking film star (Hero), is on his way to Delhi to receive an award. But he is unhappy. His new film seems to be a certain flop and the morning papers carry a news of his involvement in a brawl at club, the welfare night. Traveling in the train., Arindam meets an interesting cross section of his fans. In the restaurant car, he meets Aditi, a young and active editor of a women's magazine. Aditi wants an interview not because she is interested in him, or of films but because she thinks he would make quick selling ‘copy’, but Arindam refuses. Asleep later, Arindam sees himself sinking through a quicksand of money bills. Shankar da, his mentor, who features in his nightmare refuses to help. During a second meeting with Aditi over lunch, Arindam tells her about his nightmare. Inadvertently, he begins to talk of Shankar da and his own early youth. Aditi began taking notes while Arindam talks about his interest in amateur theatre and his early ambition to join the films. From this, he had been prevented by Shankar da to go into films. He become an instant success in films. Arindam goes on to describe how he was once snubbed by a famous actor (now forgotten) and who later came to him begging for a role. And of his friend Bijesh whom he had let down.
