Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman have an undeniable chemistry in 'No Strings Attached', a surprisingly enjoyable romantic comedy that's genuinely funny, and also sweet without being too gooey. Portman stars as Emma, a doctor in residency looking for sex with no complications, determined not to end up with a broken heart. Kutcher plays Adam, a struggling screenwriter fresh out of a bad relationship, happy to get under the sheets

Emma is a hard-working doctor. She wears her white coat as a badge of honour, and slings her stethoscope around her chest to ward off unwanted emotions. Adam is a good-looking fellow who wants to be a writer, and who is all for getting into feelings all the way in. ‘No Strings Attached’ gets in the standard rom com trope of throwing opposites together and getting them to attract, but takes it much further, giving us a film that’s funny and sexy

Can two attractive, intelligent, inherently nice people be sex friends? That is, can they use each other’s bodies any time, any place without falling in love? That is the question posed by No Strings Attached, which features Natalie Portman as Emma, a brainy med-student who compares relationships to a peanut allergy. They make her sick. So she suggests that Adam, played by Ashton Kutcher, an affable television writer and her become sex buddies

Remember When Harry Met Sally…, the 1989 romantic comedy about the ups and downs of platonic friendship? In a neat reversal of that film's premise, director Reitman, whose work ranges from the appealing (Ghostbusters) to the appalling (Evolution), considers whether a couple can maintain a long-standing physical relationship without any sort of emotional commitment. Blatantly mawkish and manipulative, No Strings Attached showcases

In No Strings Attached, Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman get into a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement. This benefits the female audience as well, as you see the freakishly tall Kutcher without his kacchas for a good part of the film. Natalie Portman is compact, but big on screen presence and overshadows her co-star. She’s a busy doctor who is terrified of relationships, but isn’t shy to ask for a booty call at all odd hours of the day. The two pretty actors

It's old. I'll tell you that much. Getting two friends to have sex, to mutually agree to not get emotionally involved and yet ensuring that one of them does, is the kind of clich © romcoms thrive on. Adam (Kutcher) and Emma (Portman) first meet at camp, then several years later, at a party. He's been dumped by a hot girlfriend. His replacement? His father, Alvin (Kline). The boy drinks himself silly. The next morning, he wakes up naked in Emma's apartment

The actress Natalie Portman is being touted as this year's front-runner to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Black Swan. However, if every one of the excruciating minutes one spends watching No Strings Attached is any indication, Ms Portman's judgment while accepting a movie role is far from exemplary. No Strings Attached co-stars Ashton Kutcher and is directed by Ivan Reitman -- a man who has made movies like Ghostbusters

No Strings Attached is an ordinary story spiced up with a lot of sex.
