Story

Onamalu is a 2012 Indian Telugu comedy, social, drama film released on Jul 27, 2012. The film is directed by Kranthi Madhav, produced by Kranthi Madhav.

You might have seen a poster or a hoarding with an old man with old model spectacles standing alone among the beautiful posters with dazzling and sizzling heroines. He is none other than Rajendra Prasad, who was once a comedy hero and now standing in a serious posture. After getting fame with films like Aa Naluguru and Mee Sreyobhilashi, he has chosen a serious character for latest film Onamalu, which is a beautiful film with a perfect tag-line ‘Manchi Gnapakalamlanti Cinema'.
Narayanarao Master (Rajendra Prasad) is unable to adjust with his children, who were doing jobs in US. Fed up with American culture, he decides to return to his village. The film starts with the flight reaching India. From there he engages a cab to his village and recollects his sweet memories in that village with the cab driver. The entire part before the interval bang is passed on with the recollection alone. In this process, he meets some of his old students on his way. However, he realises how the entire world changed including India with people following western culture and here too people have changed their mentalities including his students. How he makes efforts to enlighten people will form the crux of the film.

Narayana Rao (Rajendra Prasad) is a patriotic and simple village school master, who takes immense pleasure in working for the betterment of his students and his village. The movie shows Narayana Rao returning from the USA to his native village after a long gap. While sentiments and affection used to be the guiding forces in the village he left, commercialism and greed are the dominant forces in the village he returns to. Stung by the changes his village has undergone and ashamed with the rapid decline in human values due to urbanization, Narayana Rao sets about repairing the damage time has caused. In between, flashback episodes show the life Narayana Rao used to lead in his village and the bonds shared between members of various communities. Will Narayana Rao be able to arrest the damage and bring about a realisation in people? That forms the story of Onamaalu
