Piyali is the only daughter of Justice Ramashankar Mazumdar. She lost her mother in her early childhood. Her father takes her to his native village for a vacation. Arindam is a village boy. He is Ramashankar's friend's son. Ramashankar gives a promise to his widowed mother to take care of him and his studies. So Arindam comes to Calcutta with Ramashankar. Piyali does not like Arindam's staying at her place. Arindam returns to their village. After his mother's death Ramashankar sends him abroad for higher studies. After returning Arindam marries Piyali. But Piyali wants to stay with her father. Arindam decides to take a transfer. They start their married life in a new place. But Piyali does not like that place. and can not adjust. She develops psychological problems and a nurse, Rakhi is appointed to be with her. After a few days Piyali becomes suspicious of Rakhi and Arindam. She decides to return to her father. After reading Arindam's diary she realise that Arindam loves her very much. She turns her car towards Arindam's bungalow. The couple sorts out misunderstandings and lives a happy life. Rakhi leaves Arindam's bungalow and returns to the children.
