Story

Paran Jaay Jaliya Re is a 2009 Indian Bengali romance, costume drama, drama film released on Jul 24, 2009. The film is directed by Rabi Kinagi.

PJJR is the story that revolves around the lives of Indians living abroad who often tends to adapt to foreign cultures as their own while consciously or unconsciously forgetting the rich traditions back home.

Anamika changes to Anna, as does Siddharta to Sid not only in names but in lifestyle too. Their parents realize and are hell bent on introducing them to the place and culture they belong to – Bengal!

Anna’s ( Shubhoshree ) parents bring her to Kolkata hoping to find someone suitable. That is where Raj ( Dev ) meets her. A Bengali boy hailing from a traditional family Raj often gets carried away into a world of romantic illusions , but for Anna such gestures are a mere habit back in Malaysia . With time she likes his simple ways and they turn out to be good friends. The friendship takes a different turn as Raj sees it in a different light and lands up with the family in Malaysia.

As the story progresses it brings forth a love story of a different latitude where traditions still matter, where one learns to respect his / her individuality, where one realizes that to embrace the best of one culture you need not sacrifice your own. …. That love alone can change the way we see the world.

Directed by Mr. Ravi Kinagi, the forthcoming blockbuster from Shree Venkatesh Films will be releasing July 2009 , in 115 theatres . Mr. Harish Joshi ‘s ( Rajarshi Pictures ) cinematography gives this Family Drama a different edge as he captures Malaysia in its true flavor as much as he captures Kolkata and North Bengal.
After a line of hits through 2008 and 2009 Jeet Ganguly once again is sure to get everyone singing to his tune.

Anna, a N.R.I completely idolizes her brother and follows his wild ways. Her father wants her to change and get married to an Indaian. He decides to take his family to India on the occasion of Durgapuja (though the real reason is to find a suitable groom for Anna). After landing there, a chance encounter brings them in contact with Raja, who turns out to be Anna’s father’s friend’s son with whom they would be staying. From the beginning, Raj teases Anna a lot, but slowly and steadily starts falling in love with her. Their marriage is fixed and their ashirbad (ring ceremony) takes place. Anna states a condition that Raj should go abroad with her to know her better before getting married to her. They go abroad and after Anna reaches her home, she goes back on her words and refuses to get married.Raj’s greatest competitor turns out to be Harry, Anna’s boyfriend who is also a racist and a playboy as well who doesn’t care about her.On the day of her engagement to Harry, when is introduced to a particular guest and he turns out to be a racist, Raj gives him a fitting reply and that wins the heart of Anna. They go back to India and get married.

It is a romantic-drama/comedy film. Subhashree portrays an NRI girl living in London whose father (portrayed by Biswajit Chakraborty) wants her to get married with an Indian lad. However, Subhasree's character is deeply involved in a yet-platonic relationship with a half-Brit boy Harry. Subhasree's brother (played by Tota Roy Choudhury) is involved in a relationship with a British girl and wants to marry her. However, his father refuses to let him marry the girl and this event promptly induces him to leave his parents' home. Meanwhile, Subhasree's father manages to bring his wife and daughter to India where he can find a suitable groom for his daughter. This is where they meet Dev, a quintessential charming Bengali lad who falls head-on in love with Subhasree and their marriage is invariably finalized since Dev's father is an old friend of Subhasree's Dad as well. However, although Subhasree evidently likes Dev, she hatches a plan to delay and finally, annul the engagement by implementing her brother's plan of bringing Dev to London and 'breaking up' with him abroad. Poran Jai Jolia Re is the story of how Dev manages to win his love over all adversities in a foreign land. Aritra Dutta Banik leaves his mark as Dev's cousin, making the viewers laugh at almost every syllable. Dev shows prowess in his acting skills while Subhasree appears to have honed her acting skills post the success of Challenge. Also impressive are Biswajit as Subhasree's father and Tota Roy Choudhury as Shubhasree's brother. The plot, which is a 'lift' from 2007 Hindi film Namastey London by Vipul Shah, has certain Bengali nuances added that make it feel Bengali. However, it remains a mystery why the director wants to pass off Malaysia as London. Perhaps he had taken his inspiration a bit seriously.
