pk’s script lacks the laugh out loud and memorable moments that Hirani’s earlier films, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ or ‘3 Idiots’ had, but nevertheless there is a healthy dose of subtle humour which keeps you chuckling once in a while. But its potent dialogues make up for the lack of laughs. That one gripping and extremely effective scene where pk is taking on the shrewd godman (Saurabh Shukla) is alone worth the ticket.

The movie indeed is a combination of entertainment, humour, glamour, wit and perfect comic relief with a message that is shown throughout the movie. It is bound to compel you to ponder and question certain myths.`PK` has enough substance to keep you hooked to your seats for the entire run time. If you find your attention wavering in the first half, the second half of the movie will put your doubts to rest. The story only gets interesting and picks up pace towards the end.

PK attempts to question narrow-minded rules and opinions of religious heads and the very definitions with which we segregate one from another.Crisp and crackling PK redefines the term – ‘healthy entertainment’. This is Aamir’s best performance till date. Anushka fits the bill as Jaggu. Sushant Singh Rajput proves his mettle as loverboy yet again. Saurabh Shukla and Boman Irani are delightful. Sanjay Dutt does a great job as Bhairon Singh.

It is rare that a film questions beliefs, especially of a god fearing nation like ours that has million gods smiling on us every single day. It is even rarer that the film does this with a smile on its face, without pontificating and sermonizing. PK does all of this with a flair only Hirani can manage. After Munnabhai, PK is the next buzzword for years to come. All Hail PK!

Director Rajkumar Hirani has fashioned a clever film which asks progressive questions about dogmatic beliefs and does not attempt to bombard us with ‘right’ answers, encouraging viewers to rethink accepted social and religious beliefs. The performances are pitch perfect, with A-lister Khan proving yet again that he’s the most versatile and intelligent Indian actor of his generation. The result is probably the best mainstream Hindi film of 2014. But do be sure to stick around for the final credits!

Beneath its vibrant bouts of humour, PK mocks at the societal arrangement we have grown apathetic to. Those jokes are ultimately nothing but PK’s sarcasm at the expense of our collective desperation that wagers to chance and dubs it a miracle, rejoices in disparity, exhorts fear and has forgotten their fundamental right to question. When PK works, it does with great merit, spunk and surprise. When it does not, it meanders, sermonises and guilt trips exactly in the tone of the one it reproaches.

Post interval, it slumps. The focus, which till then is on a character who intrigues us while interesting things are happening to him, gets diluted by a wholly superfluous romance (and songs, tuneful as a couple are), and a face-off between the guy awash in other-worldly goodness who asks all the right questions and the bad godman who has all the wrong answers.

What’s also very disturbing here is that even when the film is saying something important, it’s surrounded by conventional and corny stuff. Weighted down by cliches, the film often feels tiresome. I don’t enjoy watching Aamir Khan very much. His smugness, didactic finger-wagging irritates me. But here he sheds the moral weight he’s been carrying since Tare Zameen Pe and Satyamev Jayate. There’s a lightness and playfulness to his character that’s touching. In the raw state, as a clean slate, his PK is convincing and charming.

Now while its storyline is fascinating, PK has ample surprises which unfold layer by layer remarkably. But one thing, which needs to be made clear is that PK is not a out an out comedy-caper as its trailer and songs have hinted towards yet carrying the same thought-process while stepping into the theatres won’t disappoint you. While there is a serious subject Rajkumar Hirani is dealing with and his ways of presenting the entire issue turns out to be humorous.

PK is a dialectic on religion on the big screen, without much of the splendour of cinematic technique. It is rooted to dialogues, scenes and characters, as does Hirani’s other films. But the director’s biggest feat is the idea, its effortless translation and its politics. Someone in the broad stroke canvas of populist Hindi cinema has finally spoken on behalf of the agnostic. Given the news headlines, how much more relevant could that get?

Aamir’s earnest as the elephant-eared PK, who unwittingly uncovers the frauds in the religion company. His language is spot-on, but his chiseled body appears misplaced. He’s a great performer, no doubt, but even he turns PK into a caricature. Anushka is the weakest link. Wonder if it’s her artificial pout that distracted us from appreciating her work. The message might be noble, but the narrative is weak, and this is perhaps the weakest of Hirani’s films. On the face of it, PK is a simple, sweet family entertainer that has its heart in the right place and wants everyone to live happily ever after. It’s also one of the braver films we’ve seen from commercial Bollywood because of Hirani doesn’t shy away from pointing a steady finger at those who would inflame communal tensions for petty, personal gain. Somewhere under Hirani’s seemingly sweet and harmless exterior, is an angry, disappointed and disillusioned man. He doesn’t appear in the film promotions, but he’s the one making the films in which people take on the ugliness of the real world and defeat it. Their weapon of choice: optimism that just won’t give up, no matter how messed up everything may be. However, it’s telling that the one who wields that weapon in PK is an alien who just wants to get off this planet.

Hirani’s PK is no doubt a very important and relevant film for all of us who have suffered enough due to communal tensions, fanaticism, polarisation and even heartless terrorism. Like all Hirani films, the second half relies on the hero becoming a champion of social reform via media with doses of drama and feel-good by asking the right questions, all predictably intercut with weeping viewers intensely touched by the points made.

Bohot hi awesome gola! ‘Hum PK hu, PK’, actually will start with this introduction from the movie. The film’s main reason to enter the 100 crore-box office was Aamir Khan’s common narration ‘Hum PK hu, PK’. Amir, a versatile and a supersonic personality leaves no stone unturn to make the audiences laugh. The film’s most perfect and eye catching scene is that of PK’s introduction catching a radio. After giving series of loud performances in movies such as 3-idiots, Talaash, Dhoom 3 and yet more, Aamir is spellbinding as an alien in this movie. I think if the director could have signed someone other than Aamir, then I’m certain that no one could have been as close to the character as Aamir did. Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Raput too have raised the graph of their hard work as it is visible in many scenes. Starting from the beginning till the end, there is no such scene where you won’t be connected with the content of the movie. Spirituality with modern invention is the bottom line of the film. Raj Kumar Hirani is what to say man! He is a splendid, electrifying genius and an ideal Indian personality. Every time, his ‘paisa vassol’ concepts create curiosity for his next ‘to- be- ventured projects’. There are many soul touching scenes that makes you completely, deeply and madly in love with all the characters. The story’s suspense and ‘the so-called-selfie moment’ is the entry of Ranbir Kapoor, you surely cannot miss him. The dialogues are soooooo much synchronizing with the theme that makes you blow whistle after every narration. Locations, especially Belgium tracks shown are indeed the ‘heaven on earth’ types. Boman Irani as Anushka’s boss is perfect with his silly acts. Diwali’s flying rocket is Sanjay Dutt’s dance in the song ‘Tharki chokro’. Exquisite flow of emotions, dialogues and concept keeps your constant gaze towards the theater screens. The dance moves in the film are foxy. This movie has the hidden ‘Santa Claus’ moments that will make you go merry. Aamir’s Bhojpuri accent raises your eyebrows in amazement. If you are a true fan of Hirani, then this movie will surely develop high tide moments for you and your friends. Somewhere I felt that the spiritual concept of the film is inherited from the film ‘OMG!’. With the trailers out, it created a thrill of excitement to watch. The merry moment in the film is the picturisation of the song ‘Bhagwan hai kaha re tu’. The movie wouldn’t have been a perfect baked cake if this song wouldn’t have been picturised in so many themes(talking about shootings in many religious places). Anushka Sharma’s performance till the end created many romantic notions in. This film is worth entertaining and it also conveys a strong social message. Hirani has got this inbuilt quality to play with spectrum of emotions very awfully. For those who thought that this film has played with the spiritual morals, then its certainly not for them. The dress designers have too created magic with their different shades and combination of dresses for Mr. Perfectionist. One thing more that added to this film’s box-office hit is the Aamir’s ‘paan’ act. This truly gave the flavor to his personality as a Bhojpuri artist.

It's really pathetic. PK clearly shows it is against Hindu beliefs and rituals. I have seen OMG and it was not at all biased. It portrayed every religion's believes while this movie is totally against Hindu sentiments. Because it's easy to target Hindu as we don't have common view even on religion aspects. I have no doubt on quality of movie, but I want to 1 star only for defaming Hindusim
