Story, Synopsis, Trivia, Dialogues for Pockit Maar (1974)


Pockit Maar is a 1974 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1974. The film is directed by Ramesh Lakhanpal, produced by Joginder Luthra , music composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

Roshan (Dev Anand) is a small time pickpocket, but his mother (Lalita Pawar) is under the illusion that he works in a big firm which has odd working hours. Roshan happens to meet the villain Shankar Seth (Tiwari) who makes him an offer, but Roshan refuses. The villain's mole Miss Rita (Nadira) is attracted towards Roshan. One day Roshan pickpockets a poor man Mohan who had stolen Rs.3000 from the villain Sankar Seth to send it to his village where his mother & sister Sukul (Geeta Bali) live in poverty. The money was to be given to the landlord who had mortgaged their ancestral property. Shocked by the loss of Rs.3000, Mohan commits suicide. Roshan feels guilty and goes to the Mohan's village where he meets his sister, Sukul (Geeta Bali) and mother. They think that Mohan has a good job in Bombay and Roshan is his friend. Roshan tries to tell the truth but can't. He gives the money to the landlord and rushes back to Bombay. Dev later decides to lead a straight forward life earning. He joins the villian without knowing that the business of the villian is illegal. Later when he comes to know of the business he refuses to work for him. Sukul (Geeta Bali) & her "mama" (Sunder) come to Bombay in search of Roshan. Hev tells Sukul that Mohan has gone to a business tour. He meets the Police Inspector to inform about the illegal business of the villian who has looted a Universal Bank of Rs.20 lakhs. Police tell Roshan to join villian and then trap him. In order to trap the villain, Roshan marries Rita (Nadira) who has fallen in love with him.. She tells Roshan all about the villain and he is arrested. Later Roshan says that he is already married to Mohan's sister Sukul . Rita is shattered to learn the Roshan has married her only to trap the villian and he is actually married to Sukul (GeetaBali) earlier and not interested in her. To take revenge Rita tells Roshan's story to Sukul as well as Roshan's mother that he is a pickpocket. Shocked, Roshan's mother jumps from the window and commits suicide. After lighting her funeral pyre Roshan then goes with Sukul.
