Poshyaputra is a 1943 Indian Bengali drama,family film released on Dec 25, 1943. The film is directed by Satish Dasgupta, produced by Naliniranjan Bose under banner named Variety Pictures, distributed by Naliniranjan Bose, music composed by Durga Sen.

Shyamakanta Choudhury was a jamindar. His wife died leaving her son Binod. When Binod became a graduate his father want him to get married with Rajaninath's daughter Shantibala. Binod didn't agree to this proposal. So after confrontation with his father, Binod disappeared. Sideshwar Thakurani's daughter Shibani was married to a completely unknown man Nirod Kumar in Benaras. Nirod once took shelter in their house when he was ill. But one day Nirod left Shibani when she was pregnant. After a few days a letter from Nirod reached Shibani where it was stated that he was going to die. After Binod's disappearance Shyamkanta adopted Hemendra as his son. He arranged a marriage of Hemendra and Shantilata. But Hemendra was a very characterless person. So Shyamkanta came to Brindaban with Shantibala. Shanti met Shibani there Shibani at that time was a mother of a son, Amulya. Seeing Binod's mother's photograph and a ring from Shibani, Shayamkanta was confirmed that Nirod was actually his son Binod. Shyamkanta left Brindaban and came back to his village with Shibani and Amulya. Seeing Shibani and Amulya with Shyamkanta, Hemendra left for Calcutta with Shantilata. Shanti fall ill and gradually take his dead bed. Shyamkanta though got his daughter-in-law and grandson, but due to the shock from Binod, Shantilata at last adopted son Hemendra he fell ill.
