Story


Pushpanjali is a 1970 Indian Bollywood social, family drama, costume film released on Jan 01, 1970. The film is directed by Kishore Sahu, produced by Kishore Sahu.
Dinehs Khanna is a young successful business man of Bomaby. He is happily married to Lata and has a seven year old son Pappu. . Pappu, the child, constantly complains of headache and his fainting frequently worries the parents. The specialist, Dr. Desai, examines the child and declares that he is suffering from cancer of the brain, that an operation is not possible, that it is incurable, and that the child is not going to survive beyoung a few months. Hearing the news on the telephone, Lata collapses on the spot and dies. . Dinesh tries to console the child. But Pappu cannot be consoled. His condition worsens. So Dinesh takes the child to Calcutta for homeopa- thic treatment. The treatment does no good. . There, in Calcutta, Dinesh meets his old friend Major Bhag Singh, who is a retired army officer and now a timber merchant. Major Bhag Singh invites Dinesh and Pappu to his estate in the South. Dinesh takes Pappu South and stays with Major Sahib at his bunglow in the Jungles of Cohin. . At Major Sahibs setate Dinesh meets Devika, the young charming daughter of the doctor stationed at the estate. Pappu and Devika become good friends. Pappu begins to forget the loss of his mother and begin to love Devika. Devika and Dinesh gradually get drawn towards each other. . More guests arrive and stay at the bunglow for the weekend, prominent among them are Pasha, his secretary Meena, DCosta, Rani Sahiba, Cabaret dancer Lily and the Guide. They all fell concerned about the child Pappus fatal malady, Rani Sahina sends a cable to America, inviting her friend Dr.Oliver Rank, the cancer specialist, to take up Pappus case and treat him. . Devika, who was studying Bharat Natyam, at the bidding of her Dance - Guru, goes to perform the pooja-dance at the famous holy temple of Nataraj nearby, Pappu, Dinesh and all others accompany Devika. . There in the guest house Pappu gets the fatal attach and falls down senelss. . Major Sahib files Dr.Rank to the village in his helicopter. Dr. Rank wants to put the child on oxygen and fly him to Cochin foran operation Dinesh asks the doctor if he guarantees cure. The doctor declines to give any such guarantee. Thereupon Dinesh says that if his son has to die in any case, he would prefer him to die at the feet of the Lord. And so saying he lifts the unconscious child in his arms and walks to the temple, followed by all and places the dying child at the feet of Natraj and prays. There is a congegation of devotees there. The Pooja begins. The dance-gugu beckons Devika to begin her dance. . During Devikas Pooja-dance a strange phenomenon takes place.
