SHREK [and its instalments] has been one of the most loved movies of our times. An ogre falls in love with a princess and after overcoming their share of obstacles, the couple live happily ever after. Most Hindi movies take a similar route, don't they? We love happy endings. We want the underdog to accomplish his dreams. We feel euphoric if he walks into the sunset, holding the hand of his beloved.

It wasn't Napoleon alone who thought impossible was a word only to be found in a fool's dictionary. Bollywood -- and all fiction, for that matter -- believes impossible ain't a word when it comes to testing the power of love. Hence, the preponderance of the froggie-turned-into-a-Prince-Charming pyaar in fairy tale and folk lore. So we aren't really surprised when a hot and happening Priyanka Chopra sweetly declares she ain't no princess

With just over half an hour left of the 150-minute movie, Uday Chopra, who’s also written the script of the film, finally comes to the point. He dresses up Priyanka Chopra as a geek and challenges her to get the phone number of any of the happening guys in the party para of Singapore. His theory: Love and attraction are only for the beautiful people of the world.Dressed in a dull jumper (she uses to clean computers with), school hair clips and thick oversized glasses

In the film, Uday Chopra devices a computer software on which any operating system is compatible. The script that he writes is as much compatible with any operative feel-good film, frequently coming out from the Yash Raj banner. The geeky loser-in-love act that he attempts is not much different from what SRK did in bade bhaiya Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (though thankfully there isn’t an image change).

Note: this is not Notting Hill, in only as much as Uday Chopra isn’t quite Hugh Grant. This is still an incessantly stunted ‘Hollywood rom-com’ knock-off, to the point that a neatly dictated formula will allow. Even the climax, a soppy monologue, plays out on screens (Apple Macs at a computer store, instead of the giant electronic billboard of a baseball game). Characters speak in the clipped flow of LA, doling out their typically clumsy American manners: bobbing of the head

How do you watch a film you know will pan out exactly as you think it will from its first frame? By sitting stoically through `Pyar Impossible’, the latest rom com from Yashraj Films, hoping for at least one little surprise—a look, a scene, a line. Please, just one? In vain, in vain. Alisha Merchant ( Priyanka) is the best looking girl of some make-believe university in California. Abhay Sharma ( Uday) is the geekiest of all resident geeks
