Pyase Panchhi 1961

Pyase Panchhi is a 1961 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1961. The film is directed by Harsukh Bhatt, produced by Vijay Bhatt under banner named Sri Prakash Pictures.

It is the love story about two people of different castes, with some issues which concern "Harijans". Jamuna Prasad, lives with his sister. in the town of Rangpur. Jamuna Prasad (Jeevan) is looking out for a marriage proposal for his sister, Sheela (Ameeta). He chances upon Ganga Prasad's son Kiran kumar(Agha). Ganga prasad (David) comes to Rangpur to meet Jamuna Prasad and recover some money from Dipchand (Narbada Shankar). Kiran sends his friend Mahesh(Mehmood) to Rangpur as he is in love with Jyoti .In Rangpur, Mahesh and Sheela fall in love with each other. Mahesh then returns and tells the same to Kiran Kumar. In the meanwhile Kiran's father writes a letter of acceptance for the proposal to Jamuna Prasad. However, Jamuna Prasad comes to know that he has been cheated by Kiran by sending his friend to meet Sheela. Jamuna prasad threatens Ganga prasad by saying that he will go the court. Kiran refuses to marry Sheela because he loves Jyoti. In Rangpur, Mahesh has promised to the Harijans that he will fight for them because Jamuna Prasad does not permit these people to fill the water from his well. In the end Mahesh along with the Harijans, fights with Jamuna prasad and gains success in the mission. He also wins the love of the Harijans. The film is a comedy but with some social issues pertaining to Harijans. Mehmood and Ameeta perform well in their roles. David, Agha, Mallika have also performed their roles well. A good movie on the overall.

The first clouds of Ashad brings the rain and quench the thirst of the land. Inspite of the abolishment of untouchability by law, yet in many places poor Harijans are deprived of their gights in many ways. . At Rangpur, Jamnaprasad Cahturvedi, the powerful Zamindar does not permit the Hrijans to draw even drinking water from his well. . Gangaprasad from the neighbouring town asks his son Kiran to visit Rangpur to collect his dues from Deepchand with instuctions to stay with the Zamindar Jamnaprasad. This enables Jamnaprasad to meet Kiran, and Kiran to meet the beautiful sister of Jamnaprasad, Sheela and in course of time to fix their marriage. But Kiran in not informed of this. . Mahesh, a friend of Kiran, has written a drama, which is to be staged the same night and Kiran is to act in it. So instead of Kiran, Mahesh goes to Rangpur and meets Sheela accidently and both fall in love with each other. Jamnaprasad as well as Sheela mistake Mahesh for Kiran. . Mahesh finds out the plight of the Harijans for water at Rangpur and promises to build them a well by staging a drama and collecting enough funds. . Kiran is already in deep love with Jyoti, daughter of Jogendrasing who is very fond of Shikar and is popularly known as colonel. . Kiran learns of his fathers intentions to marry him to Sheela and explains to his father of the trip of Mahesh to Rangpur and the mista- ken identity. He further suggests the marriage of Mahesh and Sheela,as they are both in love with each other, and refuese to marry Sheela himself. . The father is unfuriated and Kiran is turned out of the house.
