Story


Raj Hath is a 1956 Indian Bollywood costume film released on 1956. The film is directed by Sohrab Modi, produced by Sohrab Modi under banner named Minerva.

Maharaja Daljeet (Sohrab Modi) is the king of Jagmer. Princess Raja Beti (Madhubala) is his daughter. The king of Sultanpur (Ulhas) refuses Daljeet's proposal to marry Raja Beti to his son Kumar (Pradeep Kumar). He also humiliates the messenger Sabgram Singh (Murad) stating his family's historical enmity with Daljeet's family as the reason for the refusal. He also reveals that he had deliberately proposed this marriage to take revenge. Maharaja Daljeet then vows to destroy Sultanpur and starts preparing for a war. He even makes a heartbroken Raja Beti begin thinking of avenging her insult. As preparations for the war begin, Maharaja Daljeet realizes the need to get the map of the enemy's fortress which houses an infamous trap where troops have always floundered. He even loses an important man of his army, who is caught while spying. Maharaja Daljeet then invites brave men of the kingdom to get the trap's map. This task is undertaken by Raja and her friend Juhi (Kammo) who took the disguise of men. The two girls get the map of the enemy fortress through a lot of hard work. They get into various disguises and in one of her disguises as a nautch girl, Raja Beti even manages to meet and impress Kumar. Raja hands over the map to her father. Maharaja Daljeet then proceeds with his army and Raja to a temple to seek Lord Shankar's blessing for the war. Meanwhile, Raja decides to go and kill Kumar to avenge her insult. However she finds herself unable to do so and realizes that she has fallen in love with Kumar. Kumar too falls in love with her despite not knowing her name and reality. Even when the truth does come out, the lovers remain inseparable. Kumar manages to convince his parents to ask for Raja's hand from Maharaja Daljeet, even as the latter intensifies the preparations for war. When Kumar's father and Kumar come unannounced with a marriage procession to Maharaja Daljeet's court. The latter insults them thoroughly and sends them back. While Maharaja Daljeet is initially willing to sacrifice even Raja's life to keep the family name high, he soon realizes he loves his daughter too much to let her die, in the name of Kumar's love. When Juhi tells him that Raja had promised marriage to Kumar he forgets his enmity with the Sultanpur family he persuades Kumar and his father to came back and marry Raja. While the lovers unite and celebrate their marriage Daljeet feels extremely repentent for not having kept his royal promise of wiping out the Sultanpur kingdom. He asks Lord Shankar to forgive him for bowing down to his daughter's wishes and kills himself.
