With so much going on, it’s a wonder this kids’ movie is only five minutes longer than the original. But for the music and brilliantly picturesque look, it’s worth the 3-D ticket.

Long after the end credits have rolled, the colours continue float before your eyes as the samba notes ring in your ears. And just for that, Rio 2 justifies a 3D ticket. Don’t miss this musical on wings.

Colourful and well-paced except for a cloyingly sweet song or two, the kids will enjoy this one.

A vivid and delightful animated spectacle, Rio 2 is chock-full of colorful 3-D wonder and jubilant musical numbers set against a tale of family dynamics and environmental dilemmas.

Predictable yet undeniably entertaining, “Rio 2″ is not a bad way at all to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Rio 2 will appeal to fans of the original who want to see their favourite birds go on another wild adventure.

It’s all very predictable for sure, but the jokes come thick and fast and there’s so much energy in the film it’s difficult to dislike any of the proceedings. The sequel is aimed squarely at kids and one can’t fault the filmmakers or the film for that. Adults might find the movie simplistic or dumbed down, but even they won’t be able to deny the beautifully detailed animation, even though it is presented in 3D. It’s harmless, escapist fun, and it’ll surely be a bigger hit on DVD.

It is a brilliant, colorful yet crammed 3-D animated movie with euphoric music set against a story of family reunion and environmental predicaments.

Rio 2 is one of those sweet, generic, full of important lessons about family, ecology and bravery type of animated films that you might enjoy if you have children. It’s visually rich, absolutely undemanding and so stuffed with formulaic plots and sub-plots that even small children will be hooked.

Though the film is visually appealing and picturesque, the highlight of “Rio 2″ is the beautifully choreographed soccer game in which Blu finds himself at the receiving end

Rio 2 features some lovely, complex animation and a vivid, cheerful colour palette but is a one-time watch at best. Strictly confined within the box and The Formula, Rio 2 might be the Ram-Leela of animation/Hollywood when it comes to visuals but as far as children’s films go, it remains less innovative.

For a movie that asks birds in particular and nature in general to be left alone, Saldanha can’t resist anthropomorphising the creatures to the extent that they sound and behave an awful lot like humans. Perhaps this franchise needs to be more bird-brained than it is at the moment.
