Rudaali 1993

Rudaali is a 1993 Indian Bollywood drama, social film released on Jan 01, 1993. The film is directed by Kalpana Lajmi, produced by Ravi Gupta under banner named National Film Development Corporation.
The movie is set in a small village in Rajasthan, India. It tells the concept of a woman named Shanichari, who was left by her mother shortly after her dad's death. Bad destiny follows as she weds an alcoholic, who leaves her with little hope of a good future for herself and her mentally challenged boy.Throughout Shanichari's lifetime of misconducts she has never cried. This establishes great difficulty once she is said to become a rudaali until Bhinkni, an experienced weeper, enters her life. Shanichari and the local landlord's boy fall deeply in love with each other, but Shanichari is averse to ask the rich lover for money as she does not want to lower her love even for the sake of getting out of bankruptcy and misery.

Rudaali revolves around a woman named Shanichari. She is named so, as she is considered unlucky by everyone. She loses her parents after her birth and problems keep arising till she grows old.

Rudaali starring Dimple Kapadia (Shanichari), Raj Babbar (Laxman Singh), Rakhee (Phikri) and Amjad Khan. Shanichari lives in Rajasthan. She is married & has one son named Budwa. Amjaad Khan is the big Thakur, not keeping well and thinks he will die, that is why he calls a doctor & rudaali. Phikari comes as rudaali. She stays with Shanichari. Laxman Singh is Amjad Khan's young brother & Shanichari's husband, who works in Thakur's house. Shanichari tells her story to Phikari. She tells her that when she was born her father dies, her mom left her & ran away with other guy. There was no rain in Rajasthan, but one night there is rainfall, she is overjoyed and dances & sings. Suddenly she sees that her mother-in-law died. Her mother-in-law's last wish was to see her son. So she goes to search for him but she could not find him. She burns her body. After some days while coming to house, she meets Laxman Singh on a camel. He tells her that he is thirsty & wants some water to drink. She looks up to see him & Laxman Singh catches her eyes. While talking with her, Laxman Singh comes to know that her husband works in his house. Next day he calls her husband & tells him to send his wife for work. Next day Shanichari goes for work. She meets Moti Bai, an old governess. She helps Shanichari in every work. Days pass & Laxman Sing proposes to Shanichari, and tells her to leave her family. Shanichari tells him that she is not ready & refuses. Shanichari, her husband & her child go to a fair where her husband drink the holy milk & gets food poison. Many people get food poison & died. Even he died. Shanichari become a widow. Years passes and Budwa grows big but does not stay with his mom. He comes occasionally like his father to see her. One day he gets married & brings prostitute to his house and she gets pregnant. Shanichari gets angry. People started talking about her. They all started arguing & in argument, Shanichari started cursing her. She leaves the house & aborts the child. Next morning even Budwa leaves her & goes away. Hearing her story Bhikari cries. She tells her to become Rudali. That night one man named Purshottam comes & calls Phikari. She informs Shanichari that she is going & will come after 2 days. Shanichari goes to meet Laxman Singh, they both sit & talk after sometime Purshottam comes & tells her that Phikari died & before dying she told him that she is not Phikari, she is your mom & on other side Thakur comes to know that his brother also died. Shanichari gets shocked & starts crying. She becomes Rudali.
