Rukmini 1939

Rukmini is a 1939 Indian Bengali mythology film released on 1939. The film is directed by Jyotish Bandyopadhyay.

Jarasandha, the king of Magadh had no peace in his mind because of Sreekrishna.He forced his subjects to wage a war against Sree Krishna.The Army of Jarasandha one day reached the capital of Bidardha.As that time Bidarbha was under the incompetent Bhismak.Rukmi,the prince of Bidharbha,made a sequel contract with Jarasandha.Due to his conspiracy Bidarbha accepted the loyalty to Jarasandha.Worshippping Sree Krishna was forbidden in Bidarbha by Jarasandha.The princess of Bidarbha, Rukmini came to know from her friend Chitra that her brother Rukmi is arranging her marriage with Sishupal. Sishupal was anti-Sree krishna. So how could Rukmini marry him as she had worshipped Sree Krishna since her birth and accepted him as her husband.So she protested against this to her mother.Chitra disclosed Rukmini's love for Sree Krishna to a Pundarik,the body gaurd of Jarasandha. Pundarik informed that to Jarasandha. Hearing this Jarasandha ordered to punish all the Krishna lovers of Bidarbha.Chitra informed this to Rukmini and warned her.Rukmini not getting any solution sought help from Sree Krishna.Jarasandha imprisoned Rukmini and ordered to arrange a marriage of Rukmini with a slave named Kalluk.The people of Bidardha could not tolerate this insult of their beloved princess.A war started between the people of Bidardha and the army of Jarasandha.Jarasandha ordered Pundarik to bring Rukmini from the prison to the marriage place.Suddenly it was found that the chariot of Sree Krishna -Balaram was entering Bidarbha.Jarasandha came to know about Krishna-Balaram's entry to Bidarbha.He ordered to close all the doors of the city and then went to teach them a lesson with his army.But ultiamately Jarasandha was defeated.
