Rajanibabu ran the Annapurna boarding house in kolkata. His wife and children stayed in his house in the suburbs. Rajanibabu came home every weekend. But his show of affection to his wife only invited biting words from her. She consideres it unseemly with growing children around them. The boarding house in kolkata was an all men’s abode. Everyone had their pecularities they tight ?, had fun and stayed together. One day, a relative of Rajani’s came asking for shelter with his wife and daughter. The boarders had an excited meeting on whether they should be allowed to stay. Attracted to Romola, the beautiful young girl, all unmarried boarders voted in their favour. Soon, all the boarders were found in Romola’s way or around her room. In the mean time, Rampriti, the leader of the boarding residents come back from home. He called up the boarding from his college. Romola took the call. As he could not dream of a woman in the boarding, he spoke rudely, which led to a fight. He came to the boarding, discovered Romola, and the couple had another fight. Rampriti vehemently vetoed their stay but was overruled by the other residents. Gradually however, Rampriti and Romola liked each other and fell in love arousing the jealousy of other boarders. They started exchanging letters through the servant Madan. Madan couldn’t escape the sharp eyes of the boarders who hijacked one of the letters. Infuriated, they showed it to Rajani. They were in a hurry to go home and asked for an immediate solution. Rajani promised to look into it after coming back from home, put the letter in his pocket and left. At home, his wife discovered the letter, suspected him of having an extramarital affair and put up an extraordinary tantrum, completely bewildering Rajani. Advised by her friend, she dressed up and dazzleds Rajani with her show of love when he next came home. In kolkata in the meantime, Romola and Rampriti’s marriage was fixed and Rajani got busy with all the preparations. At home, his wife called a priest of black magic who performed a ceremony to bring back her wayward husband. She then got the news of a marriage in the boarding. Suspecting Rajani of marry? if again, she travelled to Kolkata with haste with her children. A chaos ensued as she strangled her bemused husband. The confusion was resolved only when she produced the loveletter as a proof of Rajani’s infidelity. The couple were reconciliated as the marriage ceremony of Rampriti and Romola was solemnized.
