Sautela Bhai is a 1962 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1962. The film is directed by Mahesh Kaul, produced by Alok Bharti.
Melodrama about an extended family in Bengal, Baikunth Majumdar (Gupta), who has a son by a previous marriage, remarries. His new wife Bhawani raises her stepson Gokul along with her own son Vinod. When they grow up Vinod (Raaj Kumar) goes to the city to study while Gokul (Dutt) manages the family shop. Vinod turns bad in the city and his parents decide to leave the family property to Gokul. Vinod returns and contests the will. The battle between the stepbrothers over mother and the will is resolved by Gokuls other-worldly innocence which succeeds in uniting the family. *.* When Baikunth Muzumdar a small town gorcer re-married, idle tongues of Babuganj (a town of Bangal) whispered, "now, the young infant Golul of Baikunth will have a very miserable life!" The step-mother Bhawani however soon belied all these apprehensions. she was like the ral mother to Gokul, Even when Gokul had his step-brother Vinod, there was no change. . When a small boy, Vinod called Gokul his step-brother, Gokul was aghast, Bhawani was equally disturbed how to convince Gokul that he was just like her own son! But baikunth put them all to rest by confi- ding in Gokul that there is nothing wrong in being a step-brother, after all the ideal brothers of Ramayan Ram and Lakhan were also step brothers! Gokul was pleased. . Vinod was good at school and soon passed his school examinations with flying clourse and went to Calcutta for higher studies. Gokul had started looking after shop and gradually, the shop was prosperous and the family wealthy and happy. Suddenly, baikunth discovered that while at Calcutta, Vinod kept bed company and had taken to drinking. He was much worried and fell ill. In oreder to take away the burden from her dying husband, Bhawani made him make a will whereby, entire property was given to Gokul. . The gosipers tongues agin wagged. Vinod was to be pitted against Gokul for demanding share from the property and corresponding Gokul arraying of forces inside Gokuls house juxtaposed Nimai Rai-the cunning father-in-law of Gokul, and Gokuls wife. Bhawani led a terrible ordeal in her own home and had to leave with Vinod from that house. Rumours spread that Vinod will file a suit for share of property.
