Sedin Chaitramas is a 1997 Indian Bengali family,romance film released on 1997. The film is directed by Prabhat Roy.

Latika, elder daughter of Math teacher Dinanath Majumdar, returns to her parents home in a village in Orissa from Calcutta. She is married to Shuvankar in Calcutta. She makes an arrangemant of her sisters marriage with Sourav, an old friend of her husbands. She returns home and tells her parents about the negotiation. Dinanath & his wife agree, But Kusum , Her sister & the would be bride doesnt make any response. Kusum , 'a rural tomboy', has grown up in the lap of nature, she plays all day long with her companion Raja, a little village boy. But Laika is not a lady to give up. She insists on her plan, makes her sister understand and begins her journey to make Kusum suitable for Sourav Sarkar - the young handsome groom & chief engineer of Jeneith Construction Limited. Latika's training begins , she trains her sister how to walk, what to wear, table manners & the ettiquetes of an urban lifestyle. Kusum laughs at her elder sister, tries to resist her but she has to obey her. She follows her each nad every instruction to impress Sourav - who is coming to their village soon. Dinanath & his wife are also impressed with Latika's grooming workshops to Kusum. A suitable boy for their daughter is perhaps, the only dream in their eyes. Before returning to Calcutta, Latika advises her parents how to receive & behave with this foriegn returned engineer boy. The auspicious date comes and Dinanath goes to the station, receives the boy and guides him to his office bunglow. Dinanath a simple person, forgets to ask the real name of the boy.The fact is the company has sent Atanu Ghosh, a supervisor, in the place of Sourav - the chief officer. Atanu knowing nothing about this family, introduces himself as Jolly, - the name by which he is better known to everyone. Dinanth , in a joy to see his would be son- in law forgets everything and invites him for dinner at his home. Jolly with his close companion - a guiter, comes to his home and soon becomes very familier & close to the Majumdar family. As per as Latika's instruction , Kusum is sent to his bunglow everyday with flowers to make an impression. Maybe, cupid is watching them from a secret place. It's love at first sight for both of them. Jolly & Kusum's romance begins- music, nature & guiter remain the eye witness to their love. Finally Latika's letter arrives, where she informs that Sourav is yet to come, and the boy is Atanu, Sourav's assistant. Dinanath and his wife remain spellbound. They realise the mishap they've already done. Kusum is being separated from Jolly & Dinanath waits for the actual groom. Sourav arrives, is taken to his bunglow and realises the situation instantly. He goes to his site, see's the projects and asks Atanu, his assistant about Kusum & their family. Atanu, impressed with the Majumdar family, praises a lot to his boss. Gradually, he secretly reveals to him that the reception he has got from the Majumdar family, and the marriage proposal from Kusum's father- is not for him, but for his boss. They've misunderstood him as Sourav- the rich groom for their daughter, Kusum. Atanu realises the situation & decides to stay away from them. Sourav is smart and enough to read the situation & complexities concerned with his marriage. He sends Atanu back to Calcutta, gives a letter to his mother writing everything about Kusum & Atanu's Relation. Atanu returns back, gives it to his boss's mother. Dinanath sends Shuvankar, his son-in law, to Sourav with a marriage proposal for Kusum. Sourav agrees, sets up a date of engegement & calls them to arrange everything. On the auspicious day, he comes to Kusum's home in a typical bangali grooms dress. He finds Kusum crying on her bed. He calls her to dress up. He leaves the room & surprisingly returns with his mother & Atanu with him. He secretly make every arrengment for his beloved assistant's marriage with Kusum; and now he, infront of everyone, gives him a reception as his younger brother. Dinanath & his entire family remain silent, they don't know how to react in this situation. Finally the couple get together, bids their thanks to Sourav & congratulates him for his greatness.
