"Shaheed" presents the inspiring, interesting and enlightening incide- nts, ancedotes and episodes form the life of the great of patriots of our country - Sardar Bhagat Singh. This is with a view to strengthen the sporit of Nationalism and Patriotism in our people, by creating a consciousness in their minds that the freedom which we are enjoying to day was not achieved in a day or two. Our independence was the cotcome of long and continuous struggle by our leader against the system prevalent in the country during the dark days of slavery. Bhagat Singh featured in the fight of Indias struggle for freedom very prominently. . The object is to impress upon our people that the freedom of our coun- try that is being endangered by the constant threat of aggression by our neighbours, is very hard earned and precious. We must preserve it at any cost and under any circumstances. . it is our firm belief that the best way to inspire our youth to lay their lives for the nation, is to project on scree the lives of our various leaders whose main mission of life was the freedom of the country. To begin with Bhagat Sindhs life on screen would be very appropriat and timely and about whom our beleoved the late Shri Jhawaharlal Nehru also said once, "In Bhagat Singh self sacrifice and bravery had passed the uppre limits.....The lesson which we shold learn form Bhagat Singh is to die in a manly and bold manner so that the country may live.
