Story


Sita is a 1980 Indian Bengali mythology film released on 1980. The film is directed by Ardhendu Chattopadhyay, produced by R. D. Bansal.

This mythological story revolves around Sita - the most famous female character of the Hindu epic - Ramayana. Janak, the king of Mithila finds a girl on his own farm and brings her home. He names her Janaki or Sita & brings her up as his own daughter. In her youth she becomes the most beautiful princess of world. Ram Chandra the elder son of Dashrath marries her. Dashrath, the king of Ayodhya wishes to crown Rama as the new king of his state, but obeying his second wife Kaykayi's wish Rama goes into exile for 14 years with Sita & Lakshman. Ravana the king of Lanka kidnaps Sita & imprisons her for 10 months. Rama & Lakshman battle with the help of Hanuman & kill Ravana. They return to Ayodhya. Dashrath is dead, so Rama becomes the new king. The story starts here. Sita is now pregnant. All the three wives of Dashrath (Kaushalya, Kaykayi & Sumitra), three brothers Varat & Shatrughna & the three wives Urmila, Mandibi & Shrutakisti love Ram & Sita very much. Manthara a maid of Kaykayi gets jealous & conspires against Sita. Sita goes to the forest again. Lonely Sita comes to Valmiki's shelter. Sita gives birth to twin male babies - Luv & Kush. After some years in a battle, Ram is defeated by his two sons. He comes to know about his sons & decides to return to Sita. Sita takes the test of fire as per her husband's wish but does not return to him. She returns to mother Earth.
