Swami Stree 1940

Swami Stree is a 1940 Indian Bengali drama,family,romance film released on 1940. The film is directed by Satu Sen.

Mr. Das lived in Hazaribagh. After retiring from civil service. Lili, his daughter, was taught in school and college of western style. Minati, daughter of Mrs. Das's sister, was pretty and educated. She used to stay at Mrs. Das's house. Minati has acquired everybody's affection due to her cool return. One day Lalit came to that house through his acquaintance with Minati. Her passing Enginering Lalit became guest of Das family on an invitation from Minati. Das couple thought Lalit would marry Minati. But after few days it was found that Lalit wanted to marry Lili,not Minati. Lili also liked Lalit. So lalit married Lili. Though Lalit married Lili, but he could not get her heart. Lili remained the same as she was before marriage, taking life easily. Lili became more restless in Dhanbad. She was annoyed over lalit as it was due to him she had to stay away from her parents. A misunderstanding cropped up between husband and wife. Minati tried to erase the disagreement between them. The life of Das couple became miserable in absence of Lili. So they decided to go aboard. But before leaving they hand a wish to visit their daughter. So he sent Mohan there before their visit. Mohan was a childhood friend of Lili. After reaching Dhanbad he became favourite of Lili as he always used to keep Lili happy. They became suddenly very close. One night Minati saved them from becoming dangerously close. Das couple reached at Dhanbad. The family atmosphere changed Lili. She stated wanting Lalit's presence. But the coal mine where Lalit worked was caught five. Lalit entered the burniing mind. Mianati followed him. Lili also follower herb husband. The revolting labours of the mine tried to kill Lalit, Minati and Lili. Getting that news Mohan also went there. On one side terrific blast and on the other side the conspiracy of the labours. But at the end Minati and Mohan saved the lives of Lili and Lalit.
