Taqdeer 1967

Taqdeer is a 1967 Indian Bollywood social film released on 1967. The film is directed by A. Salam, produced by Tarachand Barjatya under banner named Rajshri Productions.
All this film shares with Mehboob Khans Taqdeer (1943) is its title. The plot concerns a music teacher who leaves wife and children to try to earn money abroad. When his wife hears that her husbands ship has been wrecked, she tries to make ends meet by marrying a rich, villanious mine owner. Later, the husband, who suffers from amensia, returns and the nasty industrialist tries to kill him. In the end, the villain gets killed and the musicianss family is reunited. One such man whose Destiny under-went the most astonishing changes was Gopal (Bharat Bhooshan) a poor music-teacher of Goa, who earned his livelihood by teaching music to the children of his village . Though they were poor Gopal and his wife Sharda (Shalini) and their three lovely children Mala, Sushil and Geeta, faced life with integrity. . Shardas divine love, however always helped him forget his worries, sufferings and their constant poverty. Sharda had married Gopal for love, for his kind heart and his other fine human qualities, having rejected an offer of marriage from the mines magnate Vijay Babu (Kamal Kapoor). . One day Gopal leaves home to better his prospects by taking employment on board a ship. But soon after his departure, news comes that the ship has been wrecked, and that he is reported missing. . Sharda tries her best to stem the onrushing tide of poverty but cannot and soon her children are on the verge of starvation. Trapped in her own storms of agony and tortures, Sharda finally takes a brave decision and accepts Vijay Babus offer to marry him. . Several years pass, and we find on the shores of Africa a bearded Gopal bereft of memory, always playing with children. But one day he hears a familiar melody, a composition of his own, sung by one of his former puplis. Memory flashed back to him, and he returns to his native place in Goa. . Here, shock upon shock await him. He finds his home broken down and deserted. Then he learns of his wifes remarriage to Vijay Babu and finds his children gorwnup, rich and happy. Utterly broken-hearted, Gopal decides not to re-enter their lives but to eke out his quiet and lonely existence all alone. . But the wheel of Fate turned once again. Gopals youngest and favouri- te child Geeta (Farida Jalal) now grown into a comely teenager, soon befrineds him, not knowning that he is her own father! One day, the old man saves Geeta from a ruffian. One thing leads to another, and soon, Sharda, learns that the strange frined of her youngest daughter is none other than her own husband! . Alomost simultaneously, Vijay Babu learns the truth too. Instantly he decides to get rid of poor Gopal and orders him, now a workman in his mines, into the most dangerous pit.
