The Ides of March takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, when a campaign press secretary (Ryan) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate's shot at the presidency.
A young press spokesman (Ryan Gosling) falls prey to backroom politics, the treacherous manipulations of veteran operatives and seduction by a young intern (Evan Rachel Wood) while working for a Governor Morris (George Clooney), a candidate running in the presidential primary race for the Democratic Party ticket.
