Tumhari Sulu is a slice of a life film which is worth your ticket price. It is engaging and has a massive social message. Don’t miss this riveting tale of a middle class housewife cum radio jockey. You will definitely come out of the theatres with tears of joy!

The pacing of the film in both halves is a huge problem, but that’s a small hiccup in an otherwise light hearted film that leaves you with a happy, infectious ‘hellllloooooo’ ringing in your head for long!!!

From start to finish, Sulu resembles someone we have all seen in our life. Someone that Vidya brings to screen like no other could have and someone we’ll see in a different light now onwards. If English Vinglish gave housewives an identity, Tumhari Sulu breathes life into their existence.

Despite its love for feel-good, Tumhari Sulu isn’t stuck in a fool’s paradise and confronts the conflicts thrown in its path, feels Sukanya Verma.

The essence of this story is ‘Main Kar Sakti Hai’, and with such a refined and affable actress as Vidya Balan in the lead, it is lovingly captured in ‘Tumhari Sulu’ making it an entertaining watch for the whole family.

As one said at the start, had the length of this film been slightly trimmed, it would’ve made it twice as appealing. Go for this one — if you want to know the recipe for what makes ordinary people, extraordinary.

Tumhari Sulu is one of those films which makes you smile while you leave the cinema hall. If not a masterpiece, Tumhari Sulu is a monumental piece by the master Vidya Balan. Watch it to fall in love with Vidya all over again.

Tumhari Sulu is  more remarkable for its central performance then  for actualizing the performance  into a state  of  durable renewability. Often, the  storytelling gets sluggish, and the narrative faces the  imminent danger of  losing the audience.But then, Vidya Balan takes charge over and over again. And as in life, so in the film, we realize all  is not lost.

While the first half cruises along wonderfully, buoyed by spectacular performances by all the actors, the second half is bogged down by some heavy-handed treatment.If you are in the mood for a sweet family drama that has a generous helping of comedy and excellent performances, then make sure to watch Tumhari Sulu.

Watching the impeccable Vidya Balan perform on screen is a treat in itself. And when it is a story that has all the right elements to keep you engaged and entertained throughout, you have a winner at hand. Tumhari Sulu is one such film – sweet, simple, touching, highly entertaining and totally unmissable.

…the film makes up for these niggles by creating a leading lady who is cracklingly alive, dealing with difficulties, and finding a way around them. Sulu is a win.

This film, where Vidya shows up as a vivacious, fat Virar aunty, embodying all the compassions and contradictions within a modern desi woman, is not an exception, by any means. It is really as good as it gets.

Vidya Balan and Manav Kaul are wonderful in Tumhari Sulu. And despite its exasperating folly as it draws to a close, Tumhari Sulu is a throat-achingly, side-splittingly hysterical entertainer.

Sulochana likes to compete, and she wins at most things. Whether it is a Pressure Cooker for a Radio Call In show or a spoon and lemon race at her son’s school. She takes a chance and becomes an RJ too. Her sexy late night call-in job alarms her rather middle class family and you’ll love her dexterity in handling them all. Delightful watch.

The film has moderate production values but befitting the strata of society depicted. Nothing seems incongruous.

Tumhari Sulu certainly has its moments but ultimately it comes across as a missed opportunity.

Despite painting a very realistic canvas of issues that plague people’s domestic life such as ego fights and the likes, Suresh’s story seems a bit too clumsily wrapped leaving several loopholes in the narrative.

…if this film has a beating heart, it is Vidya Balan. She is in every scene and lights it up with her sheer screen presence. This is an author-backed role, but she makes it so much more by adding layers of empathy and vulnerability to make Sulu a character that will stay with you long after you have left the theatre.

Tumhari Sulu is a heartwarming entertainer and it will, therefore, score at the box-office. Its positive word of mouth will see collections rising.
