Agreed completely ugly! The story of the film revolves around the life of a struggling actor, Rahul. Actually the crux of the story is Rahul’s missing daughter Kali. The story triggers the life of Rahul and his ex-wife, Shalini who got married to a police officer, Shoumik Bose(Ronit Roy). Rahul, Shalini and Shoumik are college buddies but due to few cracks in their relationships they start bitching each other. Now one day, Rahul and Shalini’s 10-year-old girl, Kali goes missing from the car. In all this, her mother is lost in the dark world of drugs and pills. Kali’s disappearance turns out to be havoc and this in turn creates complications in Shalini and Shoumik’s lives. Shoumik as a police cop investigates this case personally. The needle of doubt is pointed towards Rahul and Chaitany (Rahul’s friend). There is also Rakhee Malhotra (Surveen Chawla) and Siddhant (Siddhant Kapoor) who turns out to be the show stealers. Rakhee is a struggling actor and Siddhant is Shalini’s smuggler brother. The story has spectrum of sequences that make you feel what’s next. The film is highlighted with a good cinematography by the brilliant cinematographer Nikos Andritsakis who had worked in LOVE, SEX AND DHOKA. The film’s rocking sound track makes you feel as if you are in another world. The film’s capturing moment is the song ‘Papa’ sung by Shilpa Rao leaves you with moist eyes. Talking about Shalini’s character played by Tejaswini Kolhapure, she has kept those shades of acting alive even today. No doubt, Ronit Roy shines with his performance as a cop. But somewhere, Rahul Bhat failed to charm the audience with his work. Talking about Anurag Kashyap’s direction, it did not create that magical atmosphere as always expected. Watching the film just for the Anurag’s genre of disturb childhood, then this film will work for you. But in case you are watching the film to extract something from the concept, then do avoid because it won’t work for you. Somewhere the film’s bottom line shows you of the disturb routine life of a common man, woman and even kids, but that is not the only thing the audience can expect from the movie. If people are paying for the tickets, then there should be an effective outcome from the same. Well while leaving the theatres, audiences may feel few disturbing images from the movie, but that won’t affect you much if and only if you are Anurag Kashyap’s true fan. Surveen Chawla holds your attention throughout the film. She is deeply in her character. Script is good but somewhere it doesn’t satisfy you upto that extend. The film could have been much better if Anurag Khasyap’s direction would have kept the audiences glued to their screens. The set created gives you the true feeling of something extra-ordinary taking place. Music composers have worked hard to give you a very soggy feeling.
