Uttarayan 1941

Uttarayan is a 1941 Indian Bengali drama,family film released on 1941. The film is directed by Pramathesh Barua.

Arati was the daughter of millionaire Atuleswar. She met Zaminder's son Saroj Gupta, alias Salil, in Mussourie. Salil started liking Arati. Salil's elder sister in the absence of his mother made a proposal to Atuleswar about the marriage of Arati with Salil. At this time Atuleswar's business faced a huge loss. Overnight he became a pauper. Salil's mother came back and said already she had selected her son's wife so theb marriage with Arati as impossible. Atuleswar committed suicide. salil stuck at this decision of his mother. Arati also left home and took shelter in lady doctor Madhabi's house. Arati took a job of school teacher. It was a very ill paid job. So became very ill very shortly. Arati was attacked with typhoid. She needed money for her treatment. Madhabi sent telegram to Salil. Salil took her to a health resort at Asanpur. Arati was cured. But one night she left the resort without informing anybody. Salil Came back home alone. At last Salil married Swarnalata, the girl selected by his mother. Salil wanted to forget arati,but couldn't. Swarnalata could understand that Salil did not love her. Huge mental difference cropped up between husband and wife. Swarnalata fell ill. Dr. Chatterjee understood that the illness of Swarna cropped up from her apathy for Salil and his mother. It was decided that Salil and his mother would stay somewhere else for at least one month. After and his mother left a nurse took responsibility of Swarna. That nurse was Arati. Then she was known as Malati Roy. Swarna told about his husband to Arati. Arati had a knowledge that she was nursing Saroj Gupta's wife. She didn't know that Saroj Gupta was none other than Salil himself. After one month, returning home Salil found Arati as the nurse of Swarna. Swarna found Salil became difference in the presence of the nurse. She started doubting. She came to know that Salil was known to that nurse before. She became so excited that she died. Ultimately Salil and Arati were united.
