Uttoran is a 1994 Indian Bengali drama film released on 1994. The film is directed by Sandip Ray, music composed by Sandip Ray.

An earliest general practitioner Dr. Nihar Sengupta (Soumitra Chatterjee) is invited to lecture at the rotary club of Jamshedpur. On his way to the lecture he has at flat tyre while it is being changed nears a groaning from behind a bush. On investigation he finds an old peasant lying in a comatose state, since is in a hurry, he arranges for the peasant to be taken away to his village. The men who carry him away say that the peasant needs a witch doctor. Dr. Sengupta drives on but has second thoughts and returns. He is just in time to interrupt the exorcism and have the old peasant carried back to his hut. He meets with his son and daughter, that only family member remains and gives an injection. On the young widow daughter’s request Dr. Sengupta stays at hut till night. Peasant’s daughter cooks for him and request him to take the dinner. During the dinner doctor found that the woman just like his daughter now she survives in an odd-society by the discussion of her bad-luck who also loose mother, husband in very young age. Doctor promise to train and like to see her as a nurse. That night he driver out from there and reach to his friends place, where his friend and wife have an argument about all of his doing and idealism. But doctor feel something different. And the sleepless night the peasant family continuously attracting. At last he set his mind and at early morning reaches at peasant hut. But he peasant died then – just for a moment he thinks about something and just like the morning of sun he changed his mind and burs his lecture document on file. It sums like the new beginning, a new promotion in his life and also a promotion of humanity takes place.
