Vairam 2009

Vairam is a 2009 Indian Tamil costume drama, action film released on Sep 22, 2009. The film is directed by M. A. Nishad, produced by K Venu Gopal.

Vairam movie tells the story of Sivarajan (PashuPathy) who fights for justice, as he looses his daughter Vairamani (Dhanya) who is raped and killed by Thalikkulam Josootty. When the law was blinded by political and money power, he had no other option than to hunt down josootty.

An investigative journalist Annie Jacob (Samvritha Sunil) of a popular magazine diggs up the whole story, which becomes a sensation. An offbeat advocate Ravi Varma (Suresh Gopi) takes up the case for re investigation. The DYSP of crime branch Thomas Erali (Mukesh) investigates the crime with great zeal, and then the real truth is exposed. The advocate, police officer, and the journalist together starts the fight for justice.

But by Onam and Ramzan, the line up has emerged good to excellent with movies like 'Vairam' coming up with right mix of melodrama and realism. Politician turned director M A Nishad's previous endeavours had been sincere to their messages, but a little outdated in their techniques and narrative constructions. But here in 'Vairam' he makes up for that and comes up with the best among his four, this time on a mature scripts by Cheriyan Kalpakavady about a doting father who turns a killer to fight affluent forces who molested his daughter and destroyed his dreams. In 'Vairam', it is Pasupathy who seems to have shouldered the heavy task of holding a multifaceted movie together. He appears to be one of the golden boys of Tamil cinema right now, and does his act in a competent manner with required intensity. Imbuing the author backed role of a distraught father with the right mix of confidence, soberness and arrogance, the movie is an ode to plight of the dozens' of hapless parents who are left in turmoil after the unexpected, untimely loss of daughters.
