Woh Kaun Thi is a 1964 Indian Bollywood suspense film released on 1964. The film is directed by Raj Khosla, produced by N. N. Sippy under banner named Prithvi Pictures.

Anand (Manoj Kumar) is an efficient doctor, doing fine in his profession & love life with Seema (Helen) until one day Seema gets killed by someone. Seema's death greatly disturbs Anand. His mother asks Anand to get married, so that his attention gets diverted & someone will be there to take care of him. After a lot of persuasion Anand gets married to a girl of his mother's choice, Sandhya (Sadhana). Sandhya happens to be the same woman whom Anand had once given a lift till the graveyard & the other time when he saw her dying before his eyes. Shocked & puzzled Anand starts avoiding Sandhya but it is as if he has lost his wits or Sandhya is some ghost, some strange incidents start occuring with Anand. Jagat Narayan tranfers his property to Anand on the condition that Anand should be mentally fit or else the property will be transferred to some other nominee. To obtain this property Shyam's cousin, Ramesh (Prem Chopra) sets up a plan to turn Anand mentally ill. Ramesh involves Sandhya's twin sister of whom Sandhya is not aware in the plot, & she is the same girl whom Anand had given a lift & also seen dying.

A rare big budget excursion into the thriller genre, the plot concerns a young doctor, Anand (Kumar), obsessed by a woman (Sadhana) who appeares to him with different names and in different guises, making him doubt his senses. Like Vertigo (1958), the story evokes the supernatural and madness but eventually the hero unravels the plot. The villian of the piece is is Anands friend Dr Ramesh (Chopra) who concots the plots to drive anand insane in order to get hold of an inheritance. The enigmatic, sexually repressed figure played by Sadhana ranges from a ghostlike apparition to Anands future wife (with a seduction scene where she momentarily turns human to the song Lag jaa gale). In spite of the often woefully repeated use of the song Naina barse rimjhim (sung by Lata Mangeshkar), it remains one of director Khoslas favourites. The film was remade into Tamil as Yar Nee by Sathyam (1966). Check out this page for more updates on Woh Kaun Thi.
