Good cinema has proved time and again that regardless of the subject matter a good film will move you even if it’s about something as unreal as......

World War Z' doesn’t offer anything new, but it takes all the familiar tropes of modern zombie films and presents them on an extremely large scale. It’s a disaster pic that mixes the soulless excess of Roland Emmerich and the pseudo realistic procedural style of Soderbergh’s Contagion. The film doesn’t waste any time and we are plunged straight into the zombie apocalypse that breaks out in an American city. We follow Gerry (Brad Pitt)

Mumbai is unsafe with gang wars rearing their ugly head. While fear is looming over the city, undercover police officers Eklavya Karmarkar ( Suniel Shetty), Naeem Sheikh (Kay Kay Menon), Eric (Johnny Lever) and Madhav (Mahaakshay) are assigned the task of salvaging the situation. They arrest the much revered underworld don Mukhtar Memon (Zakir Hussain) and put him behind bars. Senior officer Yugantar ( Mithun Chakraborty) supervises

The zombie genre seems to be 'done to death' (pun intended). With Brad Pitt as the poster boy, World War Z gets all the right buzz a film of its stature requires. A classic end of the world scenario set against the backdrop of modern day New York sees a virus outbreak that turns humans into zombies. Gerry (Pitt) is a retired UN investigator having a regular day out with his wife (Enos) and kids, until they witness a savage attack by the living dead

I know what some of you are thinking. Zombie apocalypse? Really? Again? But if you start complaining about the lack of originality in summer movies, honestly, when will you stop? (The answer in my case is Labor Day or cocktail hour.) And in many ways, when compared with Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and Star Trek: OMG Ricardo Montalbán!, World War Z is pretty refreshing. The movie, loosely adapted from Max Brooks’ 2006 novel of the same title

Another week, another doomsday flick at the multiplexes. Of late, scores of scriptwriters have imagined the human race assailed by alien nasties, lusty vampires and what-catastrophe-have-you. Aiming to create a dire warning of the world that could be, World War Z envisions the planet plunged into chaos following a zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, the end-of-times fantasy is decidedly inferior to the similarly-themed 28 Days Later

The first problem you encounter with World War Z, the new action blockbuster starring Brad Pitt, is how to pronounce the damn thing. Should the last letter be said “zee”, to sound like “three”, or “zed”, to sound like “dead”, or “zzz”, to sound like the audience? Whichever phoneme you plump for, the Z stands for zombie, and the film contains, on a rough estimate, hundreds of thousands of them. It is based on a novel by Max Brooks

After years of fighting aliens, Hollywood’s latest obsession is taking on zombies. Movie-goers have taken well to films based on these ‘creatures’ and so we have World War Z giving us another massive dose of the undead. Gerry (Brad Pitt) is a former United Nations worker who has worked in the Middle East and Chechnya but after years of service, has traded the hard life for a family. Life is normal for Gerry and family until one evening
